It is an honor to serve the Illawarra region since 1999 as an extension to Amity College in Sydney. Similar to other Amity College campuses, Amity College Illawarra is a co-educational school that serves students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Illawarra Primary offers an exceptional education in the areas of English, Maths, Science, HSIE, PDHPE, and CAPA, which is extensively taught throughout the scholastic year.
Amity College students participate in many school sports. Each term students are involved in different sports, such as martial arts, tennis, gymnastics, and AFL. Our Sports Policy allows teaching staff to organize and develop many enjoyable social and sporting initiatives that are always enjoyed by all our students and promote the health and well-being of our students.
With two outdoor fields for sports, a gym, and a mini basketball court, students are never short of recreational enjoyment. We are a colorful and vibrant school with our Folk Dancing Group that attends many multicultural festivals and other events. Our students are also involved in activities such as Clean Up Australia Day, Anzac Ceremony commemorations, and Harmony Day.
As a school, we utilize the Amity Coolsis online information system that provides parents and students real-time information on the academic and behavioral progress of the student. Students and parents can access data at the same time of submission by the subject teacher.
Following in the tradition of Amity College’s academic excellence, Amity College Illawarra students achieved remarkable results in 2014 with more than fifty awards such as Distinction, Credit, and Merit, awarded in ICAS. As the school has grown, so have the initiatives to provide students with many diverse learning opportunities such as those offered by the Differentiated Learning Programs and the Music Program. With the current number of students at 170, Amity College Illawarra is a multi-cultural school, whose teaching staff are committed to building professional relationships with parents to help promote open, challenging, and harmonious learning experiences where students can reach their learning expectations and outcomes.
Since its establishment, the primary aim of Amity College has been to provide a platform that would help students realize their potential and become leaders of tomorrow. At Amity College, we strive to create a school environment that is conducive to learning in all aspects of life. The inspiring and compassionate nature of the staff coupled with a diverse and challenging curriculum foster critical thinking and set the foundations of academic excellence. While various extra-curricular activities allow students to develop their talents, comprehensive student pastoral care programs and strong ties with parents contribute towards character development and reaching full potential.
Our vision at Amity College is the achievement of academic and creative excellence as well as the nurturing of moral and socially responsible students to enable them to participate as informed, active, caring, and contributing citizens in our democratic Australian society.
This vision is also captured in the College’s fresh and vibrant logo an open book that symbolizes the acts of learning, inquiry, exploring, achieving, and inspiring. At Amity College, we are ambitious to establish a culture of excellence in the light of diversity and harmony, which are expressed through the lively colors exhibited in the College’s logo.
