Ysgol Y Faenol is a local authority community primary school, situated in the village of Bodelwyddan, Denbighshire. Ysgol Y Faenol is a predominantly English medium primary school, where the pupils experience the curriculum mainly through the medium of English, but where Welsh is taught as a second language and some aspects of some subjects may be taught in Welsh.
English is the language of the day-to-day business of the school. The school generally communicates to parents in English. We have no affiliation with any particular religion or religious denomination. We cater to pupils from 3-11 years of age and currently have 131 full-time pupils and 21 nursery pupils. The school has a hall/gymnasium and is surrounded by an extensive playing field and an attractive play area. A playgroup, a breakfast club, an after-school club, and a holiday club are run on the school premises.
Starting a new school is an important step in your child's life. We aim to provide a caring and secure environment in which your child will be happy, will feel valued and challenged. From their earliest days at school, we want children to enjoy being at school and to learn to work and play together in harmony. At the same time, we encourage each child to achieve and maintain high standards.
Education is a partnership between the home and school. During the important formative years that your child is attending Ysgol Y Faenol, we hope we can work together to build the foundations upon which your child’s future can be firmly laid. Starting a new school can be an exciting time for both parents and children alike. There is much to learn and a great deal that is new or different. The purpose of this handbook is to introduce the school to parents and pupils and to explain the school’s curriculum and related activities and procedures.
