At Ysgol Parc Y Llan, children, staff, and parents all work closely together to ensure a balance between academic achievement and the development of personal attributes such as respect for others, self-discipline, and self-esteem. We know that learning is a lifelong process and we are confident that our school will provide the educational foundations on which your child will continue to build. Ysgol Parc Y Llan is situated in the picturesque village of Treuddyn in North Wales. There will always be lots of opportunities for you to become involved not only in your child’s education but also in the broader aspects of life in a vibrant school. Ysgol Parc Y Llan is an important part of the local community and we encourage children to participate in activities that promote and develop their understanding of community life and the wider world.
Estyn visited the school in December 2015 and we are very pleased to inform you that the outcome of this visit was that Ysgol Parc Y Llan School was judged to have made very good progress and had met and exceeded the recommendations from the inspection in September 2010. We have a close relationship with Castell Alun High School as members of the Hope Consortium Group of Schools. The majority of our children at the end of Key Stage 2 in 2015/2016 decided to continue their studies at Castell Alun and Mold Alun High School.
Ysgol Parc Y Llan is a local authority community primary school, providing full-time education for both boys and girls, between 4 years (Reception) and 11 years (Year 6). It also provides a part-time Nursery for children in September following their 3rd birthday. Pupils are taught through the medium of English, with Welsh being taught as a second language. The school was built in 1992 and is positioned within the rural village of Treuddyn on the same site as Ysgol Terrig, a Welsh-medium school.
Some facilities on the site are shared by the two schools (hall, committee room, and playing field). The school has a Foundation Phase classroom and two classrooms for Key Stage Two children, a Nursery Foundation Phase unit, library, AVA room/computer suite, a central atrium area, secretary and headteacher’s offices, staff room, committee room, and hall. There also toilets for the pupils and staff and boys and girls changing rooms. School meals are cooked on the premises by the cook and her assistant.
Outside there is ample playing area for all the pupils: the Foundation Phase has its fenced-off area (including covered area) with a sandpit, stage, and a planting area. There is also a large hard surface playground at the rear of the school. During the fine weather, pupils are allowed on the large playing fields which provide plenty of opportunity for games and recreational activities. There is a wildlife pond and a wooded area at the back of the school. Access to the school is gained through the front gate of the school, off Ffordd Y Llan, and a gate leading from Bryn Yr Ysgol Road to the side of the school. Staff and visitors parking area situated at the front of the school.
