It is our mission and message to ensure that EVERY child is prepared for their next steps in education and life regardless of background. The children here have a wonderful opportunity to learn how to shine and achieve while they are with us. We are passionate about potential and are a very caring school where relationships are very strong between children and staff.
We are working together to build something very special for the children we have the privilege of working with. Our website gives you a greater insight into our school a school where people matter, a school that is small enough to be recognized in, but big enough for children to flourish.
Ysgol Maesglas serves its community by working in partnership to provide an education of the highest quality. As a school, we celebrate the diversity of the wider community and are committed to the principles of inclusion and equality of opportunity. We aim to develop lively, enquiring minds. Enlarging the child's knowledge, experience, imagination, and understanding. We develop the child's awareness of moral values and capacity for enjoyment. We aim to make our children as independent as possible so when they leave us in Year 6 they are ready for Secondary Education. We encourage them to be active participants and to make a contribution.
The school building is modern and spacious allowing excellent access to all pupils and adults. We benefit from a large hall, a well-equipped library, computer room, and multimedia studio. We have extensive grounds with hard surface areas, a spacious playing field, adventure play equipment, and a forest school area.
At Ysgol Maesglas we believe that all children should be regarded as special. However children vary so much inability and aptitude and the rate at which they learn, therefore, some children will need more support than others. Children who require extra support need to be identified at a very early stage in their school career. We try and identify these children as early as the reception class. If children require extra support then this is provided by the class teacher in the class situation. As the children get older then they are given extra support from a support teacher either in the classroom or extracted to a special room. A more comprehensive policy on additional needs is available upon request.
