Our goal is to ensure that school Ysgol Llanbedrog is a happy, safe and active school, which provides the best possible foundation for each child. We aim to ensure that each child gains valuable, enriching and unforgettable experiences.
We believe in the importance of identifying the children’s individual needs, responding quickly to any problem that arises. We want every child in the school to develop responsible and confident individuals who are proud of themselves and their bilingual community.
Our aim at Ysgol Llanbedrog is to provide all pupils with comprehensive education and a broadly-based curriculum to enable every pupil to develop the skills necessary for lifelong learning and become a well-rounded member of the community. We trust that we enable every pupil to develop to his/her full potential.
We emphasize securing bilingual skills for every child, including a knowledge and understanding of the Welsh heritage. We take pride in the fact that parents and visitors to the school acknowledge the friendly and orderly atmosphere that exists here and how new pupils happily settle in.
There is a stimulating and hard-working atmosphere in classes, based on mutual respect and care. This enables pupils to develop self-confidence and a positive attitude towards learning. A high standard of behavior and commitment are expected at all times. There is a collaborative atmosphere and every pupil is encouraged to accept and share various responsibilities.
The disciplinary system at Ysgol Llanbedrog adheres to the Webster-Stratton principles to maintain good behavior, as endorsed by Gwynedd Council. This is based on commending, modeling, and praising positive behavior rather than focusing on the negative. Although every teacher is responsible for the behavior of his/her class, all the staff at the school follow the same principles to uphold behavior, adhering to the Golden Rules in all aspects of school life and adhering to the same system of praising and sanctioning. In certain instances of misbehavior, the children will have the opportunity to calm down on the Quiet Chair, or sometimes the child will be kept in over playtime. If a child persistently or seriously misbehaves, the parents are asked to come to the school to discuss the matter with the Headteacher.
The school strives to teach the pupils to differentiate between day-to-day quarreling between friends and peers, and bullying. Bullying represents a regular, harmful, intentional, and threatening act towards a pupil. The victim finds it difficult to defend himself/herself against the bully/bullies. Bullying in any form is not tolerated at Ysgol Llanbedrog. Guidelines are stipulated in the Discipline Policy and if any bullying occurs, the matter will be dealt with by those guidelines.
