Wellesbourne is a Community Primary School for girls and boys aged between 3 – 11 years. Wellesbourne is at the heart of the Norris Green community and enjoys an excellent reputation. Our school is known for the excellent behavior and good manners of its children. Visitors to the school often comment on the positive, polite attitude of our children.
It is important to us that the school is a secure, happy, vibrant environment and we strive to build long and lasting relationships with parents and the community.
Our Vision Statement is "Living to Learn, Learning to Live". Wellesbourne Primary and Nursery School aspire to provide the highest quality of learning experiences in a safe, caring environment, valuing diversity and preparing learners for an ever-changing world.
We aim to create a community that promotes learning as an exciting, independent, and lifelong activity and broadens children’s horizons and aspirations.
We have 5 simple school values which all members of our school community strive to adhere to, these values are based upon the acronym ‘Reach’
R is for Respect. We believe that everybody should be treated with respect and be respectful to others. E is for Effort. We all try our best to give 100% effort in whatever we do. A is for Attendance. We aim to be in every day and to be one time, if we are not here we cannot learn. C is for Co-operate. We try our best to be cooperative, to behave correctly, to be kind and helpful to others. H is for Honest. We want to be honest citizens this helps us to develop good character and strong self-esteem.
The British values are Democracy, The Rule of Law, Individual Liberty, Mutual Respect, Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs. We ensure that through our school vision, ethos, agreed-on rules, curriculum, and teaching we promote respect and tolerance for all cultures, faiths, and lifestyles. As educators, we must prepare our children for life in modern Britain and keep them safe.
As a school, we are working hard together to achieve the Silver Reading Quality Mark. Recently we received the Bronze Quality Mark and were very close to achieving the Silver, the only thing we need to do more of is reading for pleasure.
In school, we teach daily phonics using Letters and Sounds, in Reception we teach children how to read using Floppy’s Phonics scheme and also Phonics Bug. From this children are introduced to the Oxford Reading Tree scheme of the book.
