We are a community school for all children aged 3-11 years who live in the village of Trethomas and Lower Graig Y Rhacca. Through our mission statement of “Kind Hands And Clever Minds Make Our School” we endeavor to meet the learning and care needs of all children who attend the school, whilst ensuring that they enjoy learning in a safe and stimulating environment.

We recognize that it is only in working in a close and balanced partnership with parents and the wider community that we can achieve this. As well as offering high-quality education we are also pleased to offer childcare facilities to all children who attend our school and the opportunity for pre-school children to attend the afternoon Tiddlers Play Group. The school is at the heart of the community and we sincerely hope that all parents and children develop a long and happy association with our school.

At Tien y Wern Primary School we aim to realize our mission statement of Kind Hands and Clever Minds Make Our School and will:

• Create a warm, welcoming school that the child is happy to enter.
• Create a stimulating classroom and outdoor environment that encourages the child to want to learn and explore.
• Provide opportunities to learn essential skills and concepts and to be able to apply them in a variety of situations.
• Recognize and reward individual effort and talent.
• Identify individual potential and provide a curriculum that will enable the child to realize that potential.
• Identify individual needs and provide a curriculum to address the need.
• Ensure that all staff and pupils share mutual respect and care for each other.
• Provide an environment where children feel confident and motivated to do their best at all times.

Enable children to become skilled, active, and responsible citizens of Wales and the world. The Headteacher, Governors, and Staff want to work in partnership with parents in the pursuit of these aims, and parental involvement in all aspects of school life is positively encouraged. All staff members work industriously to keep abreast of professional developments and in the delivery of a thoroughly planned and well-balanced curriculum, appropriate to the ages and development of the children in their care.
