Sudbourne Primary School is a happy, thriving, and successful school in the heart of Brixton Hill. The school is 1.5 form entry – this means that 45 pupils can be admitted in each year group. As a community school, our role is to serve the families in the local area, and the school's admission policy is in line with all Lambeth community schools.
Sudbourne is an outstanding school with a reputation for developing and nurturing children both academically and pastorally. We are rightly proud of our achievements. We received a Pupil Premium Award from the DfE last year, and this year have been invited to join the London Mayor’s Schools for Success program in recognition of the outstanding learning outcomes of our children over the years, in particular for children from more disadvantaged backgrounds. This is a testament not only to the dedication and commitment of all our staff members, but also to the ongoing support of our parents/carers and, of course, our most important asset - our amazing children.
It is also because inclusion is at the heart of everything we do. We strongly believe that our role is to provide a warm, friendly, safe place for children, no matter what their starting points in life are. At Sudbourne, our children develop a love of learning, create long-lasting relationships, discover and celebrate their hidden talents, and express their individuality.
Visitors to the school comment on how noticeably happy the children are, how well behaved and courteous they are – simply, how much they love being at our school. This is because we believe that children learn best when they are having fun and are engaged in meaningful learning. Our team of talented, creative, and incredibly hard-working teachers and support staff fill every day with challenge, purpose, exploration, and kindness.
