At St John's, we welcome boys of all backgrounds whose parents recognize our values and approach to education something they desire and wish to support for their children.
St John’s Beaumont is an Independent Roman Catholic, Jesuit boarding, and day preparatory school for boys aged 3-13, located near Windsor, on the border of Berkshire and Surrey, close to Junction 13 on the M25.
St John’s is the oldest purpose-built preparatory school in the country, founded in 1888 and combining the rich tradition of Jesuit education with the very best that modern teaching techniques and technology can offer. Our boys leave St John’s aged 13 and move to some of the country’s finest schools, but more importantly do so as confident, aspirational, and resilient young men, aware of their potential and their ability to leave a positive impression on the lives of others.
St John’s Beaumont was opened in 1888 initially as the preparatory school for the Jesuit public school Beaumont College, which was also situated in Old Windsor. It was designed by John Francs Bentley, one of the most famous architects of his day who later went on to design Westminster Cathedral in London.
As a Catholic school, St John’s Beaumont believes that we each have a spiritual dimension, as well as our physical, intellectual, emotional, and social selves. As a school community, we seek to help pupils to become more aware of their spirit and to grow in their spiritual lives whatever religious background they may or may not have.
Our school day is packed with academic and sporting endeavors, acts of worship, reflection and personal study, enriching cultural experiences and co-curricular activities, and opportunities to be of service to others. Our productive days also allow plenty of time to let off steam and relax with friends.
The Nicholas Owen Block is our colorful and vibrant Pre-Prep department where every boy matters. The walls in the bright and airy classrooms are covered with the boys’ work, of which they are all very proud. Each classroom has a full-time teacher and a support teacher, ensuring every boy has one-to-one time to further their learning every day.
Our boys leave the Nicholas Owen block at the end of Year 2 (at the age of 7/8) and move into the historic main school building to continue their education journey at St John’s in the Middle School.
After Year 5, boys continue their journey through St John's Beaumont School into the Upper School where they will be growing into young men for others and prepare for their common entrance exams under the headship of Mrs. Dos Santos.
