At St. James Hatcham CE Primary School we are an inclusive and aspirational community, committed to ensuring that every single child develops to the best of their ability and excels in all areas.
When your child joins us, they will be part of a happy family. We believe that all children are special and have individual interests and talents that should be fully encouraged and developed. The school has also attained the Science Silver Quality Mark in recognition of the excellent work done in Science.
Our pastoral support is outstanding and we are proud of our calm environment. We involve all members of our school community in creating and sustaining this. Children have the opportunity of becoming trained Peer Mediators to help us achieve a safe and happy environment and all members of staff are committed to developing children’s empathy skills and promoting excellent behavior through the Positive and Alternative Thinking Strategies (PATHS) scheme. We forge and maintain excellent partnerships with parents and believe in working together as a team to provide children with the best opportunities in life. The Princess Diana award was presented to us in recognition of our school’s work in creating a safe and bully-free environment.
Your child will be safe, happy and achieve the best education possible, whilst learning to contribute to our school’s Christian values, positive ethos, and pursuit of high academic success. We are very proud of our links to our church and our most recent Section 48 SIAS Report (Statutory Inspection of Anglican Schools) where we were judged to be ‘outstanding.

Meanwhile, these three remain faith, hope, and love, and the greatest of these is love. We have four Christian values which we try to live out in our everyday lives: Love, Peace, Hope, and Joy. We believe that the most important thing is to show love for one another.
Hope is working with god, Love is what we do, Joy is how we live and Peace is what we bring. These are displayed around the school and incorporated into our school assembly themes and during the school day. For example, we may ask children whether the behavior they have shown has brought joy to another child.
