St Andrew’s Prep is an independent day and boarding school (full, weekly, and Flexi) for boys and girls aged 9 months to 13 years. It is located in the coastal town of Eastbourne, East Sussex with easy access to London. We value childhood as the most important stage in one’s life a time where social development through friendship and play is as important as academic development within the classroom. We passionately believe that prep school education is about opening doors for young minds and, whilst maintaining high academic standards, we strive to ensure that each pupil has as many doors as possible from which to choose.

We feel that this is an exceptional school an environment that upholds the finest prep school traditions but also one which is forward-thinking in preparing children for life in the 21st century. We seek to ensure that all pupils are equipped with the essential qualities of kindness and compassion and that when each child leaves he or she is skilled and confident to perform in many different areas.

This website will give you a glimpse of the education, opportunities, and challenges that the school can offer your child. Please do explore it thoroughly and I hope it will whet the appetite for a visit during which, I’m sure, you’ll gain a real sense of the energy, the happiness and the engagement in learning of our children. I’m sure too you will see why we are so proud of its location, the heritage, facilities and staff of the school, but most of all, the children who define us and are the school’s heartbeat.

At St Andrew’s we work with the parents to develop pupils of strong character who are confident yet not arrogant pupils who are comfortable with formality and informality who celebrate the successes of others as well as being proud of their achievements and who are ready to extend courtesy and kindness to those about them.

Staff worked with the Prep School Council of pupils to discuss the traits needed to produce such morally aware characters and, together, we chose the following as values for all Androvians to possess:

• Gratitude
• Courage

These values are promoted through our rewards and sanctions policies, assemblies, Chapel services, PSHE (Personal Social and Health Education), our Mind Matters program, and, most importantly, the human relationships and partnerships that are nurtured between the children, staff, and parents.
