Oak Farm Infant School is a day school for boys and girls, aged between 3 and 7 years. Our school is set in spacious grounds, surrounded by hard playing areas and fields with mature trees and an environmental area. The Nursery is part of the Infant School and is set in a separate building with its play area.
Oak Farm Infant School aims to provide a welcoming, lively and stimulating atmosphere in which young children may grow, feel secure, and realize their full potential at their speed. This welcome extends to our parents and carers too. The teaching staff uses the best of current educational practice to provide an interesting and balanced curriculum. Acquisition of the basic skills is considered to be extremely important.
We aim for the children to enjoy their time in this school, make good progress and grow up with a positive self-image and respect for individuality. We work toward developing children to think for themselves and feel for others.

At Oak Farm we believe we are not just educating the children for the few years they are with us but we are thinking of the potential each child has and we ensure we help eaciì child to form the skills and minutes required to contribute to society. We are thinking about the adult they will become and we ensure we provide a positive environment where each child can grow and develop positively.
We provide a supportive learning environment where each child feels secure and enabled to take risks in their learning C1inIknge. Staff provides challenges in each lesson at different levels so each child is challenged. We never give a child a task they cannot achieve and we never give a child a task that is too easy. Children feel secure that the teacher knows their level and teaching will have an appropriate challenge.
The teacher plans work suitable for each child and staff put a lot of effort into making the curriculum relevant and inspiring for the children. Children in turn are expected to put effort into their learning whether through play or more formal learning. The children have a sense of achievement, success, and fulfIlment which raises their self-esteem and encourages them to want to keep learning.
We believe tolerance and respect underpin the daily life of the school, as outlined on our school ethos tree, and from the earliest stages, children are given opportunities to explore the fundamental values at an age-appropriate level.
In the infant school, the children are taught in mixed ability classes using a range of strategies which includes whole-class teaching, small groups, and individual teaching. For some tasks, children are grouped by ability, on other occasions they may work in mixed ability or friendship groups. Teachers plan in year groups on a termly and weekly basis. These plans include all curriculum areas. Individual teachers then plan and monitor their curriculum coverage daily and keep records of pupil progress and interests which further informs their planning.
