Northwold is a large, mixed community school that provides an exciting, supportive and challenging environment that enables all children to reach their highest levels of achievement in all aspects of their school lives. Northwold Primary School is in the Hackney Local Education Authority and we are housed in a four-story late-Victorian listed building – which has been a school for over 104 years.
Although the Headteacher manages the school from day to day, it is the governors, as a corporate body, who are legally responsible for the school. We are accountable to parents, the local community, and the local education authority for the performance of the school. The governors are all volunteers and we are not paid for our work.
At Northwold a healthy lifestyle and well-being are core components for the values and ethos of the school. We recognize the importance of having a broad and balance PE curriculum and extra-curricular program in improving pupils’ attitude, attainment, and achievement at the highest level. The Sports Funding will enable us to continue and extend our provision for children to developing a healthy lifestyle.
Northwold Primary School is a large school for pupils aged 3-11, located near Hackney. Our Academy is part of the AmayaTrust and caters to over 470 pupils. We are a vibrant and inclusive community, and our skilled and dedicated staff work hard to provide a wide range of educational experiences for the children in a safe and stimulating environment. Amaya Trust is the overall admissions authority for the Academy with decision-making delegated to the Academy’s Governing Body.
Admission Appeal Code. An Independent Appeals Panel hears any appeals from parents whose child has not been allocated a place at Northwold Primary School, and who appeals by the procedure specified by the Local Authority.
The Academy has an admission number of 60 pupils in all year groups and 50 full-time equivalent places will be available in our nursery. Places in the nursery school may be full-time or organized on a part-time basis (morning and afternoons). Details will be provided on the academy website and may vary from time to time. Sufficient notice of arrangements will be given before the annual application.
The Academy will accordingly provide for the admission of 60 pupils each year if sufficient applications for entry are received. Where fewer than the published admission number(s) for the relevant year groups are received, the Academy Trust will offer places at the Academy to all those who have applied.

At Northwold Primary School we adopt the view that safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility. We believe that everyone who comes into contact with children and their families has a role to play in safeguarding children. To fulfill this responsibility effectively, we consider at all times, what is in the best interests of the child.
Northwold is committed to meeting the statutory requirements of the New National Curriculum and Revised Early Years and Foundation Stage Framework (2014). We have developed a broad, balance creative curriculum that stimulates and fosters children’s learning. The ethos of the school promotes a caring and positive learning environment that gives children the opportunity to be the best that they can be. The curriculum fosters the growth and development of the children in all areas of learning.
Enrichment opportunities at Northwold are integral to the complete, holistic development of every child. All children have the right to develop new skills, confidence, and leadership working independently, or within a group to enhance their learning experience. Commitment to a team, skill, project, or performance aids each pupil’s sense of pride, self-worth, and achievement, whilst building a platform for academic accomplishment. A full program of clubs is on offer weekly, with opportunities in sports, arts, dance, languages, debating, and professional music lessons. We regularly host and partake in events, plays, musical recitals, and dance performances often working in partnership with charities to fundraise, as well as promote pupil development.
Student leadership and enterprise opportunities are a vital component within our school ethos sharing initiative and innovation to further our local, national, and global community. Our School Council is a fundamental part of school life, meeting weekly to ensure that the whole school has a voice, sharing best practice, and offering advice to other pupils
The Pupil Premium is a grant which is given to every school by the Government. It is an additional sum to the main school funding and it is to help address national inequalities between the achievements of children eligible for free school meals or children in care and others. The amount granted to each school is based on the number of pupils who are known to be eligible for free school meals or who have been eligible in the last six years. Each school makes its own decisions on how the Pupil Premium is spent since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual students within their responsibility. Schools must publish online information on how they have used the spending.
The Full Governing Body meets at least once a term. Northwold Primary also has two governor committees: The Resources Committee and the Curriculum Committee each with about half the total GB membership. These meet at least once a term. The Resources Committee deals with Finance, Personnel, and Building matters and allocated policies. The Curriculum Committee deals with the Curriculum, setting attainment targets and reviewing children’s progress.
