We are a diverse community with learners from many different cultures and backgrounds who are valued and respected. We emphasize excellent progress whatever each individual's starting point or circumstances. At our school, we aim to provide a safe, caring environment where staff, governors, and parents work in partnership to provide high standards of education for all our children. Education is a partnership between home and school. Children learn best when school and homework together for their benefit. When your child starts school, it is not where your job ends and ours begins. It is where our job begins and yours continues. We place a great deal of emphasis on our partnership with parents and there will be many opportunities with you to make a significant contribution to the life of our school.

We are fully committed to doing the best for our children (from 4 to 11 years) and they are held as paramount in all our decisions. We are an effective team here and it is through that team pulling in the same direction that we will continue to create a place where exceptional education can be witnessed and where respect is central to all activities. We work in close partnership with the other primary schools in the area and have good links with Stockland Green High School.

At Marsh Hill, we feel that the school should provide the foundation and opportunities for children in our care to become well-rounded and capable individual members of a society which continually evolves and develops.

When children leave Marsh Hill we want them to be independent learners and thinkers with a range of skills and talents. We can only do this by striving to provide an environment for learning in which children can maximize their potential academically, socially, physically, and emotionally. Our mission is to provide a caring, respectful, tolerant environment in which all individuals are enabled to fulfill their full potential through a creative and enjoyable curriculum.

We aim to provide:

• A broad and varied curriculum promoting a community of enthusiastic and independent learners.

• A caring, secure and stimulating environment in which to educate each child intellectually, socially, emotionally, morally, and physically, so that he/she can reach their full potential, moving on to the next stage of their education with confidence and high self-esteem, and being prepared for their adult role in society.
• The teaching of a high standard, enabling children to make good and better progress in all subjects with high standards of both achievement and behavior.
• An inclusive curriculum, which is broad, balanced, relevant, and differentiated to each child’s needs.

We aim to raise standards by promoting a school ethos that is underpinned by core values. These values support the development of the whole child as a reflective learner within a calm, caring, happy and purposeful atmosphere.

The ethos of our school is built on a foundation of 22 core values which are addressed directly through lessons, assemblies and permeate the whole curriculum. Each month we focus on a particular value. We learn to understand what the values look like and how we can demonstrate the value, in the way we behave, in our attitude towards each other, and in our learning. Parents are encouraged to develop the monthly value at home and have the opportunity to nominate their child for displaying the value.

At Marsh Hill, we use the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum, National Curriculum for English, Maths, and Science and incorporate the Foundation Subjects (Art and Design, Computing, Design Technology, Geography, History, Languages, Music, PSHCE, and Physical Education) in conjunction with Values Education and Life Skills.

To achieve our educational aims, we provide a broad and balanced curriculum that takes into account the uniqueness of each child and develops the whole child, physically, socially, intellectually, and emotionally. We are an inclusive school promoting equal opportunities for all pupils, regardless of DSEN, ability, gender, or race. We help children develop personal and moral values, respect for and tolerance of other cultures, races, religions, and ways of life, and promote their understanding of their role within the community and society as a whole.

We ensure continuity and progression from year to year so that all children can perform at a high level, with confidence, across the curriculum. Assessment for learning underpins all teaching and learning so that future learning is informed by the attainment of individuals. Our curriculum is carefully scaffolded to allow for the development of essential skills - collaboration, communication, clarity of thought and expression, a logical approach to problem-solving, critical evaluation and organizational skills - and positive attitudes towards lifelong learning.
