We are a busy but friendly school, with lots going on. Choosing the right school for your child is an important decision. Mab Lane Primary School has a warm and friendly atmosphere with staff who aim to provide good quality teaching and learning.

The school is proud to have achieved several awards including the Investors in People GOLD status and Healthy Schools Award. We are also the first school in Liverpool to achieve the Investors in Pupils award.

These all acknowledge the importance our school places on quality provision for learning led by a team of well qualified and committed staff whose aim is to achieve our mission statement: “Only the Best”

We see our role as working alongside parents. Aiming for good academic achievement. Helping your child to be happy and confident.

We believe that our children are capable of achieving the highest standards possible in all they do. We encourage and promote the children to be the best they can be academically, socially, spiritually, and emotionally.

Our school values have been chosen with the help of the pupils at Mab Lane and their parents/carers. The children and their families chose five values that they felt underpinned the ethos of our school.

To go alongside our other values, it was important to have another value linking to our curriculum and school work. Perseverance was chosen by all staff to encourage the children not to give up on something they may find difficult, and through perseverance, the children can achieve 'Only The Best'. Our school values are:

• Positivity
• Helpfulness
• Perseverance

Starting in 2015, these values will be addressed through whole school assemblies, lessons, and circle time, they will also permeate the whole curriculum. We will be looking at one value every half term.

Our values are the basis for the social, intellectual, emotional, spiritual, and moral development of the whole child. We will encourage children to consider these values and thereby to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that enable them to develop as reflective learners and grow to be stable, educated, and civil adults.

Little Rainbow is a provision for 2-year-olds at Mab Lane School. Learning takes place indoors and outdoors, including a range of directed activities and activities undertaken as part of continuous provision. Continuous Provision allows for independent learning in different environments.

At Mab Lane, we take part in daily Letters and Sounds lessons, we teach discrete, systematic phonics to help the children to learn to read, write and spell. We have a 20-minute session every day and the children are grouped into sets depending on where they are up to in the program. Letters and Sounds are split into six phases and these are taught from Nursery up until year 2. We currently follow the Local Authority plans for phonics.

At Mab Lane Primary School, our curriculum actively promotes the fundamental British values of Democracy, The Rule of Law, Individual Liberty, and Mutual Respect and Tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.

We actively promote these values through our curriculum and challenge pupils, staff, or parents who express opinions contrary to these values.
