We are now into March and we hope spring is on the way. The end of February and the beginning of March will be remembered for the snow days. We had one of the coldest starts to March on record. At school, we managed to keep open for as long as possible but We appreciate the patience of parents and carers when decisions had to be made about closures with very little warning.

Although the vast majority of staff were able to get into school to continue lessons it was unsupervised out of lesson times such as break and lunch which caused the most difficulties. Despite the best efforts of our site services staff much of the playground areas around the school were like ice skating rinks and too dangerous to allow 900 students to play in. Hopefully, those cold days are behind us and spring will finally be here. There are less than four weeks until Easter and those weeks will be filled with lessons, activities, and evening events.

Year 11 students should be taking advantage of every opportunity offered to them. Revision for every subject takes place either at the end of the day or at lunchtime. A program will also be offered for the Easter Holidays. Year 9 should also be considering their future. The Year 9 exams are taking place throughout the first weeks of this month and not only should they be concentrating on revision, but they should also be considering very carefully their option choices.

Option evening had to be canceled on Thursday 1st March due to the snow but is rescheduled for Thursday 8th March. Year 9 Students also have their parent's evening later in the term on Wednesday 28th March. By the start of the Easter holiday Year, 9 students should have made their final subject choices. Our vision of teaching and learning in Kelmscott School is to ensure it provides the best possible opportunity for pupils of all abilities and backgrounds to reach their fullest potential.

Our vision is to ensure that all staff understand the link between good teaching and effective learning and therefore strive continually to improve their practice to create the best environment in which to learn. Our ultimate vision is to endure that through our teaching and learning policy we equip our pupils with the skills, knowledge, and understanding to take their place as valued citizens able to take a place in adult society.
