Daubeney is a warm, welcoming school. We work together to prepare children for a successful future in the real world. We treat our children as whole people, developing their social, emotional, and physical skills. We are a busy and friendly school, with lots going on. This website aims to give you a taster of the school, as well as providing up to date information for parents, pupils and the wider community.
Home Learning is an activity that should enhance your child’s experience so at Daubeney the activities we give all children are based on skills that will be useful and help them to learn during class time. Years R, 1 and 2 children should have 1 hour per week of home learning and this should be reading, spelling, or/and number work. Years 3 and 4 children should have 1.5 hours of home learning per week which should be linked to literacy and numeracy activities such as spelling, reading, and learning tables, with occasional projects such as independent research in other areas. Years 5 and 6 children should have 30 minutes per day with an emphasis on literacy and numeracy with occasional projects such as independent research or creative writing.
Daubeney is a three-form entry primary school with a nursery that has sixty part-time places. In-year admissions for Reception to Year 6 are also managed by Hackney Learning Trust. Once children have been offered a place at Daubeney, there will be a planned home visit and then the parents/carers will be invited in to complete the necessary admissions paperwork. Documentary evidence such as the child’s Birth Certificate and proof of their current address will be photocopied and kept on file. KS1 and KS2 Curriculum at Daubeney Primary school we aim for our children to develop inquisitive minds, a spirit of curiosity, and a passion for life-long learning. Our Golden expectations encourage children to be creative and to initiate and direct their learning as well as that of others. Our daily timetable supports a broad and balanced curriculum focusing on the core subjects in the morning and a wider themed cross-curricular approach in the afternoon. In line with these goals, all of our teachers and support staff are committed to promoting our children’s self-belief as well as providing opportunities to reflect on their learning, and seek to extend themselves mentally, physically, and spiritually.
As a school we are committed to educating all our children to equip them with the skills and confidence to fully achieve in an ever-changing world, therefore, our curriculum leaders, alongside the experienced management team, have worked to develop a flexible tailor-made Daubeney Primary School curriculum that is encompassing the goals of the new national curriculum and does include wide-ranging opportunities to explore the arts and humanities, Science, ICT as well as sport, drama, music, and dance. The Daubeney curriculum stimulates enjoyment of, and commitment to, learning as a means of encouraging the best possible progress and the highest attainment for all our pupils. It provides skills of literacy, numeracy, science, creativity, and communication. It also, assists our children to develop enquiring minds and the ability to think rationally. This prepares them effectively for the next stage in their education.
Our children are expected to make expected standards of progress between KS1 and KS2. Their attainment, effort, progress, and behavior are tracked and their educational experience is personalized to suit their individual needs.
The Daubeney Children’s Centre offers family support and can provide you with access to family health services such as midwives, health visitors, speech therapists, and dieticians.
At Daubeney we are passionate about and committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and we expect all staff and visitors to share this commitment. We are fully committed to ensuring that consistent effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support families, children, and staff at school. We have robust policies in place for ensuring the well-being of our children. These policies underpin our practice and values shared by every single member of staff in our school. Copies are available from the school office. Any concerns about children are passed through the members of staff who are trained as “Designated Child Protection Officers” in the school in compliance with the “sharing of information” guidance.
