We are a one form entry Church school that believes in putting the pupil first by tailoring their education to each individual. We are proud of our child-centered approach to learning, our rich and innovative curriculum, and our commitment to our ‘educating the whole child’ ethos.
We are fortunate to be one of the few inner-city schools that has not only a large playground and playing field but also a dedicated wooded Forest Schools area which is integral to our approach to learning.
At Christ Church, we believe that children are better able to reach their full potential when we work in effective partnership with parents and carers. To that end, we actively encourage family engagement in school life. Within a nurturing, Christian community we inspire lifelong learners and prepare them for a successful future.
The desire to develop and maintain good behavior in a school, that is free from harassment and bullying, underpins our guiding principles. We have therefore developed policies to ensure that procedures around the maintenance of behavioral standards are fair and consistently applied regardless of race, gender, sexuality, disability, religion, or culture and linguistic. Similarly, we enjoy a rich multicultural and multiracial diversity. We have therefore ensured that through our curriculum and policies and procedures we provide equality of opportunity and fair treatment for all.
Our curriculum reflects the cultural diversity of our school while maintaining a strong focus on basic skills. The curriculum is designed to be exciting and interesting, ensuring that each child is motivated and engaged. We aim to ensure that all pupils achieve their full educational potential. We have high expectations and a strong focus on literacy and numeracy. In addition to English and maths, our pupils study science, computing, history, geography, religion, music, art and design, and the importance of healthy living through our sports and activities program. We promote enjoyment for learning and encourage children to be independent, reflective learners through the development of thinking skills.
All Lambeth Local Authority (LA) maintained schools have a similar approach to meeting the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and are supported by the LA to ensure that all pupils, regardless of their specific needs, make the best possible progress in school. All schools are supported to be as inclusive as possible, with the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities being met in a mainstream setting wherever possible.
We provide a safe learning environment for our Looked after Pupils ensuring that their individual needs are met by maintaining good communication with those caring for the child, social services, and support services. We commit to attending review meetings and ensuring the targets set on Personal Education Plans are integrated into school life.
