Bryn Celyn Primary and Nursery School opened on September 1st, 1998, following the amalgamation of the Infant and Junior schools. The number of pupils on roll is 183 including 34 nursery children at present. All our School Community – Staff, Governors, and children share a common aim which is to provide all of our children with the opportunity to grow educationally, socially, morally, and physically in fact in every way that is necessary for him or her to develop into a well-balanced person well prepared to cope with life as an adult.
In Bryn Celyn, we know that every child is special and unique. Our aim is that every pupil achieves their maximum potential. Every member of staff whether a teacher or not is part of the team. Every parent is encouraged to work with us in partnership. We want all of our children to respect each other and people in society, regardless of color, creed, religion, gender, or disability. We are committed to providing equal opportunities for all of our pupils.
We think of you and ourselves as part of a team in what we are trying to do and hope that any problems which may be met during your child’s time at Bryn Celyn can be discussed together and a solution found. We hope that both you and your child will be happy here. We operate an ‘open-door policy, so if there is anything that you would like to know, please come in and ask. Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning and provide an environment that prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens.
Children enter our Early Years’ department after their third birthday. We operate a morning or afternoon place for nursery-aged children. We have a waiting list and we would ask parents and guardians to put their children’s names down as soon as possible. About two weeks before your child’s third birthday, the Foundation Phase Coordinator will contact you to arrange a home visit. This is to enable your child to meet the staff in the security of their own home, before being brought into school. It also allows the Early Years’ team to talk to parents on a one-to-one basis and to get to know each child individually. However, the most important reason for the home visit is that your child will feel more secure when they first come into school knowing that the staff has friendly, smiling faces!
