We are a three-form entry school plus a Nursery with just over six hundred children located in Billesley in the South of Birmingham. Our pupils generally live close to the school in the Billesley area, however, some children come from further away. There are currently over 40 different ethnic groups represented in the school. The majority of pupils are either from White British or Pakistani backgrounds and about a half of pupils are learning English as an additional language.

Billesley Primary School is committed to achieving excellence in all aspects of school life. Our vision is to inspire our children to succeed, create excitement for learning and so achieve excellence.

We are committed to making each child's experience at school unique and for personalizing everything we do to best meet the needs of our children and our community. This means that our priority is to ensure the highest possible standards of teaching, learning, and achievement across the school.

We aim to make learning enjoyable, allowing every individual to achieve their best and to nurture their talents, as well as giving them safety, security, and the skills they will need to be active, responsible citizens and happy, caring adults in the future.

The school is at the heart of the local community and we work in close partnership with local organizations, creative practitioners, and residents to ensure that our children get the highest quality education so that they will continue to enjoy learning throughout their lives.

The school is an academy within the Elliot Foundation with a common desire to learn from each other, share best practices and collaborate to ensure the highest outcomes for our children.

We are proud to be a school that places children’s spiritual, moral, social, and cultural education at the heart of our work which is demonstrated through our commitment to children’s active participation in a wide range of community partnerships and opportunities. We are proud of our partnerships which bring so much to our school including innovative international theatre company Stan’s Cafe, the Birmingham Repertory Theatre, leading Start well, a highly praised Early Years health and physical development program across Birmingham, and community links with our local outstanding Early Years provision at Grendon and Billesley Family Centre and Nursery.

Our Aims:

• To promote a culture of the highest expectations for boys and pupils with Special Needs and Disabilities.
• To sustain the highest standards in teaching and learning through developing the leadership skills of Middle Leaders to hold others to account.
• To develop a curriculum model which promotes excellence across all subject areas and encourages curiosity and engagement in learning.
• To reduce barriers to learning through promoting shared accountability for attendance across the school community.
• To promote the highest standards in pupil outcomes, with a particular focus on vulnerable pupils, boys, and SEND through developing a range of strategies to engage parents and the community.
• To promote the role of the school in system leadership through developing partnerships with other schools, settings, and research-led organizations.

Our curriculum aims to promote a thirst for knowledge and a love of learning. It covers a wide range of subjects and provides opportunities for academic, technical, and sporting excellence. It has a very positive impact on all pupils’ behavior and safety and contributes very well to pupils’ academic achievement, their physical wellbeing, and their spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development.

Our children learn best when learning is purposeful, practical, and structured and when lessons are engaging and challenging. The curriculum is delivered through the principles of Philosophy for Children. These are to develop different skills and ways of thinking through all curriculum subjects and aspects of school life.

We actively promote British values through our curriculum, including encouraging tolerance, respect, and kindness. We aim to ensure that children are prepared for life in modern British society by providing them with knowledge and understanding about a wide range of cultures and faiths. Our Religious Education is taught according to Birmingham agreed RE syllabus, which teaches RE through values and dispositions across all of the major faiths.
