We are passionate about learning, for both children and adults. We are a learning community, and it is our aim that each child sees themselves as a successful learner. We are a school committed to providing an excellent education within a community that values and respects each child and the qualities he or she brings. We welcome parents into the school and are fully committed to a true partnership between your child, home, and school.

Our board of dedicated governors brings a wide array of skills, knowledge, and experience to the school. The governors, committed to ensuring that we get the best for the children, play a full and active part in the life of the school.

All children can achieve success. We are committed to high-quality teaching that supports excellent learning and progress for every child. We encourage children to grow in the key skills of a good learner: a positive attitude, good listening skills, perseverance, the confidence to ask questions and share ideas, and the ability to learn from mistakes. We are a learning community, and we are passionate about teaching our children to love learning.

We respect all members of the community, nurturing talents and creating opportunities for all in a supportive environment. We believe that a strong sense of respect for ourselves and others is the foundation of successful, collaborative learning. We recognize the uniqueness of each human being we learn to show respect for all and value difference and diversity within our own and the wider community. This extends to respect for our environment. We enable pupils to consider how they can make a positive contribution to our school, local, national, and global communities.

We learn to care for each other, ourselves, and our world. Our care for each other is what gives AJS its inclusive, happy, and supportive atmosphere, where children are encouraged to thoughtful, caring, and responsible members of our community. We learn how to be caring friends, and how to support, encourage and celebrate each other’s successes.

Our Aims

• To provide a stimulating, hard-working, and caring environment in which each child feels happy at school and anticipates transferring from Key Stage 1 with interest and enthusiasm.
• By aspiring to high standards, we develop a sense of pride that can be shared by children, teaching and non-teaching staff, parents, and governors.
• To encourage parents to take an active part both in school activities and in their child’s education so that they work in partnership with the school for the benefit of their children.
• To encourage children to take an active part in their learning and the life of the school. To encourage children to take responsibility for their learning and behavior.
• To ensure equality of access for all to the curriculum, to opportunities and resources, regardless of gender, ethnicity, ability, need, disability, religion, or culture.
