On May 15, 1989, Bond University welcomed its first cohort of 322 students at its brand new, state-of-the-art campus on Queensland’s Gold Coast. Modeled on the traditions of the world’s most elite educational institutions, the vision for Australia’s first private, not-for-profit university was to provide an exclusive educational experience of the highest international standards, under the tutelage of the country’s leading academics. Our Values:

  • Respect and concern for students and colleagues.
  • Truth, inquiry, and the pursuit of advanced knowledge.
  • Excellence in everything we do and pride in achievements.
  • Effective collaboration and teamwork.
  • Accountability for performance, actions, and learning.
  • Productive engagement between students and staff.

As Australia’s first private non-profit university, Bond University seeks to be recognized internationally as a leading independent university, imbued with a spirit to innovate, a commitment to influence, and a dedication to inspire tomorrow’s professionals who share a personalized and transformational student experience.

The 2018-2022 Bond University Strategic Plan provides a map to guide our collective action and signal our priorities for new investment. It is a plan that builds upon our existing strengths without diminishing our commitment to the mission that has underpinned our success to date and ensures that we will continue to push out the boundaries of university education. The preamble to this plan recognizes the distinctive characteristics that define the Bond Difference – our commitment to teaching excellence, the deep engagement between our academics and their students, the spirit of entrepreneurialism, the importance of applied professional skills, and the personal and transformative development of Bond people. It also explores the complex and dynamic context in which we operate and to which we must respond.

Finally, the Plan describes the iconic projects that will drive its implementation. These projects are large and transformative. They are designed to drive change, have an impact across the whole of the University, and be tangible symbols of our ambition.
