Birmingham Southern College provides a liberal arts education of distinctive quality. The College challenges students to think independently, examine the arts and sciences aesthetically and critically, and communicate clearly. It fosters the advancement of scholarship, personal and resourceful learning, and comprehensive advising.
Birmingham-Southern College is the result of a merger of Southern University, founded in Greensboro, Alabama, in 1856, with Birmingham College, opened in 1898 in Birmingham, Alabama. These two institutions were consolidated on May 30, 1918, under the name of Birmingham-Southern College.
The mission of the Information Technology Department is to develop and maintain the infrastructure, facilities, and services to provide for the effective use of technology systems to serve students best, alumni, faculty, and staff within the mission of Birmingham-Southern College.
