Shubun University was established as a four-year university with the Department of Nutrition, Faculty of Health and Nutrition, in April of 2008. Besides, the Department of Nursing, Faculty of Nursing was newly established in April of 2016. In the Faculty of Health and Nutrition, we aim to train registered dietitians who conduct nutritional guidance based on scientific knowledge of individual eating habits and nutrition. In the Faculty of Nursing, we aim to train nurses who have a high degree of expert knowledge and deep respect for ethics and humanity. We aim to provide skillful nurses who contribute to the recovery and promotion of health for our communities' citizens.
The average life span of people in our country has lengthened drastically due to healthy diets etc. Japan has become known as a country of longevity. However, on the other hand, it faces a low birthrate and aging society, and this has led to various kinds of problems. In response to the changes in such social conditions, it has become our university's mission to develop professionals aiming to contribute even more to our society.
At Shubun University Junior College, we have the department of Living Culture and the Department of Early Childhood Education. In the Department of Living Culture, we aim to train specialists in each discipline, emphasizing business education, qualification acquisition, and decorum. In the Department of Early Childhood Education, we aim to train kindergarten and nursery teachers highly trusted and valued by people in the community.
Our mission of education is to promote individuality and to encourage a wonderful personality. Shubun University and Shubun University Junior College are based on Ichinomiya Women's Commercial School, founded in 1941 with the foundation's spirit as "Our goal is to develop modern women who can contribute to the nation and society."
As time passed, society became more gender-equal. Shubun University was established in 2008, and then, the Department of Early Childhood Education, Shubun University Junior College, became a co-educational institution. At this moment in time, the foundation's spirit was revised to "Our goal is to develop professionals who can contribute to the nation and society." We are working to foster caregivers as skilled human resources in society with the education philosophy of training professionals who place their attention on citizens and contribute to human life protection.
Our university would like to develop professionals who can support people wishing for a better life by using their professional knowledge and skills in the workplace. We ask that students understand people deeply through exchanges with faculty members, peers, and people in the community. "We learn with people, and we learn from people" is the motto of Shubun University and Shubun University Junior College.
