TransWorld University (TWU) is located in beautiful Yunlin County in west-central Taiwan. It is near Sun Moon Lake and Alishan Mountain, two popular destinations in Taiwan. TransWorld University's motto is "Cherish honesty, Practice integrity" and is built on the four pillars of Sincerity, Pragmatism, Creativity, Competitiveness.
The University was officially founded in 1992 as Transworld Junior College of Commerce, a commerce-based junior college. It was officially upgraded to a four-year institute in 2000 and changed its name to Transworld Institute of Technology. On August 1, 2010, Transworld Institute of Technology was approved by the Ministry of Education as TransWorld University. In 2011, TransWorld University was honored with NT$60 million in "Teaching Excellence Awards" from Taiwan's Ministry of Education (MOE). In 2013, TransWorld University was granted NT$45 million from MOE for the 2nd consecutive time. TWU has proliferated in its short history from a total of 750 students and seven academic departments during its first semester to about 6,000 students and 14 departments and five graduate institutes today.
Students at TransWorld University study in one of the school's four colleges or five graduate programs. TWU currently offers bachelor's, and master's degrees in the College of Management, the College of Design, the College of Hospitality & Tourism, and the College of Health Sciences, the Graduate Institutes of Environmental Resources Management, Strategic Management of Small & Medium Enterprise, Biotechnology, Cultural & Creative Design, and Public Affairs Management (Executive MBA Program). The University is always working on developing into a diversified institution.
TransWorld University is based on a lovely campus, Chia-Tong, closer to Douliu City, the county's largest city. The campus was built after learning from famous universities in England, Japan, and the United States. The innovative campus was constructed incorporating some sculptural artistic design to enhance and reflect the University's uniqueness. Chia-Tong Campus has proudly been acclaimed as a unique campus among the universities of technology in Taiwan. The Bureau of Water Resources has commended TransWorld University for having the best water saving program of any university of technology. The University has the largest green campus among all private, technological universities in Taiwan. As an internationalized university, we are always keen on developing globalization. TransWorld University is looking to the future and is committed to becoming an outstanding, creative, and competitive university in central Taiwan. We would strive for the Top 20 Best Private Universities of Technology in Taiwan and one of the most prestigious ones in the Asia-Pacific region as we embark on the next phase of our long-term goal. We currently have more than 600 students from Southeast Asia, Japan, Mongolia, and Mainland China. TWU is actively recruiting both undergraduate and graduate international students. International students may apply for scholarships to study at TransWorld University. The scholarships are awarded based on academic performance and progress. The scholarships are subject to changes depending on annual funding.
