The University of Macerata was founded in 1290, and it is one of the oldest universities in Europe. Its main activities are focused on the humanities and social sciences.
Students are offered a broad range of courses supported by state-of-the-art services, including undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs, Master's and Ph.D. programs, specialization schools and summer schools in cultural heritage, economics, philosophy, law, arts and humanities, languages, linguistic mediation, communication, education, political science, and tourism.
The Giacomo Leopardi School of Advanced Studies offers excellent multidisciplinary teaching programs for young and talented students. Thanks to the local Confucius Institute, the University of Macerata plays a leading role in promoting the Chinese language and culture.
Over the last few years, the University has developed a multicampus structure, with some programs located in the town of Jesi, but with most of its facilities and activities hosted in the open main campus within Macerata.

Caters for curricular as well as specialized language courses for students, lecturers, and the general public. Offers a wide range of international certificates in 5 languages and several other language-related opportunities.
Publishing Centre of the University of Macerata (CEUM) provides publishing and distribution services. Its attention is focused on publications supporting the University of Macerata's main activities and research through the EUM, the University publishing house.
The University of Macerata looks ahead and conceives education to develop the cultural identity of its students and suitable career options for them. The University has a lot on offer: undergraduate courses, postgraduate courses, single-cycle courses, international joint-degree courses, the School of Advanced Studies, the Summer School, the Doctoral School, the Confucius Institute, and the 'Collegio Matteo Ricci – Visiting Scholars' International Program.
