The University of Bath was established on Claverton Down in Bath in 1966. We are a campus university in the South West of England. Bath is only 1 hour and 25 minutes away from London by train. We offer courses in engineering, humanities, management, science, and social science. Our mission is to deliver world-class research and teaching, educating our students to become future leaders and innovators, and benefiting the wider population through our research, enterprise, and influence. Our vision is to be recognized as an international center of research and teaching excellence, achieving global impact through our alumni, research, and strategic partnerships. Please take advantage of our world-class sports and leisure facilities. You do not have to be an athlete or in perfect shape to use them, and they are available to members of the public and students and employees. Facilities include:

• An Olympic-sized swimming pool
• Astroturf pitches as well as badminton, basketball, squash, and indoor volleyball courts for hire
• Facilities for netball, tennis, indoor football or futsal, dojo, and indoor jumps and throws
• A fully equipped professional gym
• Fitness classes, including x-biking, yoga, ab attack, Pilates, Zumba, and circuits

We are a member of the Student Community Partnership, a forum to enable the local Council, University and Students' Union to work together. It's been set up to promote excellent two-way relationships between local higher education students and other members of their local communities. Topics for discussion include accommodation, transport, welfare, community relations, community safety, and environmental issues. Over the coming months and years, we will need to work closely with the Government and others to represent the interests of our students, staff, and the University as a whole. There will undoubtedly be challenges, but there will also be opportunities in this new reality, and we must be agile enough to seize them.

We will be paying the European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA) staff who are eligible to apply for a Registration Certificate or Permanent Residence Card. Furthermore, to maintain and enhance our ability to attract international candidates from outside the EU, we will be providing an enhanced relocation allowance to eligible candidates. We have also joined #WeAreInternational to play our part in ensuring our universities remain diverse, inclusive communities open to students and staff from across the world.

The University has received a Gold award in recognition for excellence in its teaching, as part of the UK Government's new teaching quality assessment in universities. The Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) evaluates universities on criteria including teaching quality, learning environment, and student outcomes, taking into account student satisfaction, retention rates, and employment. We have a strong working relationship with our Students' Union and engage with our students to enhance their learning, such as developments in group work, feedback, and personalized timetables. Our long-standing use of peer-assisted learning (PAL) and our peer mentoring scheme are prominent examples of how our students contribute to the overall learning experience. Our unique and supportive learning environment ensures that we continue to attract high caliber and highly motivated students.

Their findings show the University makes a significant economic impact at both the national and local levels. In B&NES alone, the University contributed £294 million to the local economy during 2014/15, representing 6.2% of the region's total economic output. During the same period, each additional student's value to the area was £9,560, further supporting economic growth. The estimated contribution to UK GDP was £352.2 million. The report estimates that in 2014/15, nearly 5,850 jobs in B&NES were supported by the University, our students, and our visitors. The University itself employed 3,031 people in 2014/15 across a broad spectrum of jobs, paying salaries above the national average, making it the second-largest employer in the area after the Royal United Hospital. The report highlights the University's track record of providing secure jobs for local employees. One in every 17 jobs in the district was in some way dependent on us.
