Universitas Indonesia is a modern, comprehensive, open-minded, multi-culture, and humanism campus covering vast arrays of scientific disciplines. UI simultaneously strives to be one of the leading research universities and the most renowned academic institution globally. UI is distinctive among research universities in its commitment to academic invention and research activities through various scientific programs.

UI was founded in 1849 and represented the most experiencing educational institution in Asia. Recently, UI produces more than 400.000 alumni and continues its important role both nationally and internationally. Furthermore, our commitment to producing high-quality education systems, global standard research activities, and maintaining a high standard of international academic research publications.

UI actively contributes to strengthen and enlarge the international network as UI plays an active role in some higher education associations such as APRU (Association of Pacific Rim Universities), AUN (ASEAN University Network), and ASAIHL (Association of South East Asia Institution of Higher Learning).

UI has two campuses. One is in Jakarta's central business (Salemba), and the second one is located in Depok areas (West Java). Depok campus is a green campus covering 320 hectares. UI maintains ecology conservation by utilizing only 25 percent of academic, research, and student activities while upholding 75 percent for forestation. UI's commitment to ecology is also shown by wonderful lakes (UI has eight lakes) inside the campus.

Establishing Universitas Indonesia as an independent and only university capable of resolving problems and challenges nationally and globally, as an elite university in South East Asia.

They also invest in useful technologies to achieve a competitive advantage through education, research, and community service.

The strategic plans of Universitas Indonesia, which have been drafted and approved by the University's management, guide the University in carrying out its vision and mission.

The strategic plans comprise expectations for the yearly achievements of the University. Also, these strategic plans are strategies to achieve the University's goals along with success indicators used as assessment standards of success achieved. In deciding strategies and success indicators, Universitas Indonesia has considered the fundamental values, internal and external conditions, both from regional and international perspectives.
