Pritam Sorokin Syktyvkar State University (SyktSU) is a dynamic and developing university with more than half-century of history. It is the largest university in the Komi Republic, and it provides all levels of higher education. The university has an advanced infrastructure for science and innovation supported by its active­ cooperation with the local business community and the policy-makers.
The university's 434 staff members, who take care of the university's teaching, are highly skilled professionals — 58% have a Ph.D. and 15% a D.Sc. Degree. Moreover, the university offers its students various specialization possibilities as the 7,800 university students are spread over to more than 100 bachelor's and master's programs.
The Russian government has established several agreements with African countries, enabling African students to apply for studies in Russia. The agreement includes scholarships for which students can apply. This made it possible for John to apply for studies in Russia.
In the Russian higher education system, the Bachelor's degree program's duration is four years, and the breadth of the program is 230 credits (ECTS). In general, our Bachelor's programs have comprehensive character – on top of the broad major subject studies, the programs contain various liberal art subjects. After graduation, our graduates are fully equipped professionals and ready to advance in their careers and lives.
