The University has a modern material and technical base. There are 40 academic buildings, 69 computer classrooms, a library with six reading rooms, ten assembly halls, cultural center "Sergelyakhskie Ogni," stadium "Yunost," swimming pool, food production facility, and 14 comfortable dormitories. Nowadays, NEFU is a multidisciplinary university that provides good opportunities for educational and research work. Higher Professional Education of the Republic enters a new stage in its development. The University has 11 institutions, eight faculties, 141 departments, three branches in Neryungri, Mirny, and the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug. There are nine scientific units, including seven research institutes at the University. Additional education and advanced training are available in two institutes and one center. NEFU conducts basic and applied research in the priority areas of the University Development Program:

• Environmental safety and convincing reproduction of the mineral resource base and environmental management
• The use of high technology and production in the North
• Improving the quality of life in the North
• The preservation and development of the culture of the Arctic people
• Analytical and personnel support of innovative social and economic development of the North-East of Russia.

Now the University has rich intellectual potential. One thousand four hundred regular lecturers, including more than 176 doctors and 817 candidates of sciences, work there. The University aims to make the graduates a part of the scientific, creative, and managerial elite our society needs. NEFU has established longstanding and strong relationships with many foreign universities in the field of education, exchange programs and conferences and symposia are also being held.

NEFU foreign partners are the University of Alaska (Fairbanks, USA), the University of Northern British Columbia and Laval University in Canada, the Technical University of Darmstadt in Germany, Chiba University in Japan, and the University from Korea. Centers of Indian and Korean culture were opened at the University with the Embassy of India's help in Russia. The University also cooperates with prospective students through small academies and occupational guidance at pre-university training.

The University's missions are the training of competitive experts, research, and innovative and technological development to establish an economically sustainable and socially developed circumpolar region, which provides a high quality of life and preservation and development of the peoples' culture the North-East of Russia. The new University will be a significant scientific and educational center of the entire North-East of Russia and seek Russian and international recognition. The University has a Geology Field Station, Museum of Archeology and Ethnography, Botanical garden, and Orangery open to staff and students' research and study. The University has a Stadium, a Swimming Pool, a Social Centre.

NEFU collaborates with universities, colleges, research centers worldwide. The unique geopolitical position of the University determines our priorities for cooperation, which primarily includes countries of the Asia-Pacific and the Arctic. We have established longstanding cooperation with universities of the Republic of Korea, Japan, China, USA, Canada, Finland, Sweden, Norway, and Iceland. Our University also works closely with universities in the UK, Germany, France, Poland, Switzerland, CIS, etc. The International Relations Office provides information to students of the North-Eastern Federal University on partner universities, scholarship programs, language courses. We help students and graduates of NEFU with the organization of their studies abroad. Professors, instructors, and university research workers who are seeking joint research with foreign partners, information on financing international projects can also get advice here.

We offer assistance to international students from around the world seeking a degree, Russian language courses in international summer schools, and exchange programs. We are happy to answer any questions on your application, enrollment, visa issues, accommodation, the University programs. Study for international students is combined with the cultural activities to learn and enjoy the rich culture and traditions of our northern land. Together with our foreign partners, we develop joint educational programs, organize summer and winter schools for undergraduate and graduate students, work in international laboratories, expeditions, and projects. We offer a "tandem" program to help foreign students to integrate into the life of our prominent University, make new friends.
