The brochure "Paderborn University in Profile "is frequently updated and contains information about university governance, research, students, employees, finances, faculties, and contact information.

In recent years, Paderborn University developed extraordinary know-how in the field of digital humanities. Current projects are focused on developing research infrastructures to deal with non-textual objects such as music, speech, graphic novels, and cultural heritage, as well as exploring new computational methods for linguistic analysis and history. The Centre of Excellence "Music – Edition – Media" is one of three centers for digital humanities funded by the German Government upon the first call of applications and serves the scientific community with expertise in digital music editions.

Students from countries outside the EU require a study visa (or another long-term stay permit) for enrollment. You can acquire the said visa at the German Consulate or the German Embassy in your home country. For any information about your home country's regulations, please contact one of the two institutions above.

Health Insurance: To enroll, you need to present proof you have obtained membership in German health insurance. You can arrange a membership with your Notice of Admission. If you cannot or do not want to be covered by German health insurance, the latter will give you a document of relief. If you come from an EU member state or a country with which appropriate agreements have been made, you may use your current health insurance services without taking out the mandatory German student health insurance. To benefit from this arrangement, please bring along the equivalent insurance form of your home health insurance.

We strongly recommend gathering information about the respective services of health insurance in your home country. Afterward, you have to register at the local authorities (office for register of residence and foreigners` registration office).

Within the scope of the reaccreditation of study programs, computer science degree programs were restructured as of 1st October 2017. For information about the previous degree programs (from 2009), follow this link.

Computer science programs at Paderborn University are characterized by their distinct scientific orientation, certain key aspects, and excellent design forms. The degree programs of computer science are scientific studies, which are primary research and method-orientated. As the degree programs are not restricted to merely teaching current valid contents but rather support fundamental concepts and methods that withstand current trends, the primary research orientation enables graduates to successfully work in the profession of computer sciences both, in the field of economy or science, throughout their lives.
