The mission statement of Harz University of Applied Sciences consists of several pillars. Together, they comprise both strategic goals and shared values.
Harz University of Applied Sciences aims to become one of the leading universities in Germany and thus makes studies the highest priority. As a scientific institution, we focus on applied sciences to optimize our teachings with up to date contents. A high degree of motivation and power of innovation are central values in all areas.
Harz University of Applied Sciences is an inclusive educational institution with close ties to the region. The school's cosmopolitan mindset and international alignment contribute to tolerance and mutual respect.
Harz University of Applied Sciences actively drives social responsibility and supports equal opportunity, sustainable development, and integration of minorities/disadvantaged.
We want to introduce you to the youngest University of Applied Sciences in Saxony-Anhalt: Harz University of Applied Sciences.
With its two locations in Wernigerode and Halberstadt, the university is located at the edge of the low mountain range, the Harz Mountains, which are situated right in the middle of Germany. Both sites will inspire you with their wealth of natural landscapes and their rich history and architecture.
DISCOVER the numerous historical timber-framed houses, the old town hall and the castle in Wernigerode. EXPLORE the cathedral and its treasury in Halberstadt and EXPERIENCE the diverse range of tourist attractions and cultural sights of the region.
In a nutshell, the two locations of Harz University of Applied Sciences offer the best of both worlds. On the one hand, smaller towns have advantages in living in a comfortable and familiar environment. On the other hand, there is the great advantage of being located in the heart of Germany. Bigger cities like Magdeburg, Braunschweig, Berlin, Leipzig, or Hanover can be reached within one to three hours.
Harz University of Applied Sciences offers you a wide range of sports activities, including more than 30 different sport courses, from badminton to volleyball. We offer excellent training courses on campus in our modern gym in Wernigerode.
It doesn't matter whether you are into team sports, dancing or running. At Hochschule, Harz students can engage in numerous different kinds of sports. During the summer months, one can play beach volleyball directly on campus or (in case of bad weather) stay active in the fitness room, equipped with up-to-date fitness equipment. This room, located in the basement of house 2, is open during the term and examination periods. University sports also organizes special events. These include tournaments in classical german sports such as handball and more innovative sports such as the computer game FIFA.
There are also several opportunities to watch and admire the sports skills of other students. Several sports courses give presentations at the annual summer festival, the university dance, the international evening different, etc.
If you want to get involved and stay fit during your time at Hochschule Harz, we are happy to welcome you in one (or two...or more) of our courses!
Raise your fitness and shape your body with the right mixture of cardio, strength training, and lots of fun. After a short warm-up, we will strengthen for a flat belly, sporty legs, and a shaped butt. To relax your muscles and bring your circulation up, we change a bit to cardio. Your arms will be trained next. Finally, we will do a short relaxation part to stretch your muscles.
Body workout is training for your whole body and to focus on strength and persistence. The target is to empower your muscles and to shape your body more. We will work with our body mass to strengthen the middle of our body. Belly, legs, butt, shoulders, back, and arms will be enforced to work without additional weights.
