Munster University of Applied Sciences is a much valued, innovative partner in the region and throughout Germany and at the international level. Its strength lies in the diversity of its offerings. Backed by a network of strategic partnerships, it is continually consolidating its leading position by committing itself to provide education, knowledge, and research transfer on a long-term basis.
Munster University of Applied Sciences has evolved into one of Germany's largest and most successful applied sciences universities.
Munster University of Applied Sciences was founded on 1 August 1971 after the merger of public and private schools of construction and engineering and vocational training institutions. Back then, the student population was around 2,300 today. Almost 14,000 young people are pursuing one of our 87-degree programs, 38 of which are Master's programs - a high proportion compared to other applied sciences universities. Besides, around 110 cooperative doctoral candidates work towards a doctorate, supported by our Doctoral Studies Programme.
Over the years, Munster University of Applied Sciences has evolved into a practice-oriented, international, and interdisciplinary university of applied sciences. Teaching staff and students contribute equally to the successful transfer of scientific findings to practice. This pays off: our establishment is now one of Germany's largest and most successful applied sciences universities.
The increasing student population and the continued expansion of our research activities result in our university's growing importance as an employer. Munster University of Applied Sciences now employs around 1,000 people, including more than 250 professors, at our sites in Munster and Steinfurt and our study locations in Coesfeld and Ahlen/Beckum/Oelde.
With our educational programs and research work, we place ourselves at the service of society. In this respect, quality is the foundation on which all of our working areas are based.
Quality sets the standards for our teaching, with a wide range of programs consistent with the market's needs. Quality is the foundation for outstanding research success − we have the highest external funding rate at any German university of applied sciences. And quality is the hallmark of a finely tuned system of internal resource management.
In 2011, Munster University of Applied Sciences became Germany's first system-accredited university of applied sciences. Our quality management and exchange processes with practitioners have earned us several awards, including from the Stifterverband fur die Deutsche Wissenschaft.
Taken together, these quality attributes shape the image of our modern, high-performance, and customer-oriented university.
Quality is also the mainspring for the companies that build strategic alliances and partnerships with our university. In teaching and research, we offer many points of reference for our cooperation partners. Whether in product development, company management, human resource development, or communication: our partners will always find the skills they require − either in individual disciplines or by combining various excellent elements.
