Practice-orientation, internationalization (focusing on India), and the intelligent use of resources (focusing on indoor climate systems/water) are at the heart of teaching and research at Hof University, which currently offers 28 bachelor and master degree programs in Business, Computing, and Engineering. Our campus in Münchberg offers an outstanding education in Germany because of the relationship between the economy and the Textile and Design programs. Companies of upper Franconia also benefit from the centers of excellence and institutes at the University. The three research institutes concentrate on information systems, materials science, and water and energy management. In addition to our brand-new campus in Hof, we have a second campus located in Münchberg, a town about 20 kilometers south of Hof with a history of textile production dating back more than 150 years. Our Innovative Textiles and Textile Design degree programs are unique in all of Bavaria. Today, new computer technologies and modern machinery, and multimedia presentation of textile products are integral parts of these degree programs.
The study of Business Administration empowers you to develop solutions in all economic and administrative areas based on scientific knowledge. You should have the ability to support management in different business areas. After a familiarization period, you should be able to undertake managerial functions in economy and administration, respectively, to work on an entrepreneurial or freelance basis.
A dedicated team of professors and lecturers offers essential knowledge and practical solutions based on professional practice events in principles and advancement. In addition to providing professional knowledge, imparting essential qualifications is as well encouraged. A business language has to be chosen as a foreign language. The practical study semester is integrated into the course of study; however, the learning location is displaced from the University to the company. This practice time of almost half a year is appreciated by many companies and, therefore, a significant advantage over university study programs.
More than eight years ago, the University of Hof began to orientate themselves to India's internationalization efforts. Since 2011, the India focus is now firmly anchored in the mission statement of this educational institution. Economic relations between Germany and India have intensified in recent years. Both countries see themselves as close partners. However, cultural differences are notable. Cross-cultural misunderstandings constitute a significant barrier in German-Indian business contacts. Professionals and managers, who move competently in both cultures, are increasingly needed in the future.
As of the summer semester of 2014, the University of Hof offers students of the bachelor's degree programs Business Administration and Business Law. This new two-semester study focuses on India, among others, in cooperation with the Nirma University in Ahmedabad and the National Law School of India University in Bangalore.
We offer 28 study programs in the Engineering Department, Business Department, and Department of Computer Science. Our primary purpose is to initiate and to organize applied studies and learning processes.
