One of the challenges parents face when deciding where to send their children to school is 'How do we choose?' Education today has changed, and parents should not use the learning experiences and methods they had as students to measure what they believe is the best today. Today's global, digital, and collaborative world is what students are already engaged in and need to be prepared for.
Penrith Anglican College prepares students for a bright future, from the inquiry-based, student-centered learning in Pre-K classrooms through to the various academic and co-curricular opportunities offered throughout the Primary and Senior years, including our impressive Music and Performing Arts programs. Our Year 11 and 12 students have the opportunity to choose between the Higher School Certificate or the globally recognized.
The Anglican Schools Corporation established Penrith Anglican College with a clear vision: to encourage students to live with purpose and develop a personal faith in Christ. That founding vision remains at the heart of our College. In 1994, John Lambert, the NSW Assistant Director-General of Education, recognized a need in the rapidly growing Penrith area for a low fee, academically excellent Christian school, and felt the Anglican Church could fill this gap.
To educate students to become informed and responsible global citizens who follow Christ and serve others. Penrith Anglican College was established in 1998 with a clear vision – to educate students to live with purpose and develop a personal faith in Christ. The College seeks to provide an innovative, rigorous, and Christ-centred education that encourages a culture of personal excellence through inquiry, learning, and achievement.
Penrith Anglican College provides a broadly inclusive and nurturing community, where students are encouraged to participate fully in the life of the College. Many opportunities are available to students to develop their unique talents to serve the College and broader communities – now and in the future. The College stands for personal excellence and a progressive approach to learning, preparing students for the future, and a life of purpose through Christ.
At Penrith Anglican College, every student is encouraged to strive for personal excellence and grow as a forwarding thinker. As an International Baccalaureate (IB) College, we adhere to the IB Learner Profile. We believe these values help our students become responsible and active participants in our local, national, and global communities. Penrith Anglican College offers a range of activities and opportunities to develop these characteristics. As IB Learners, we encourage students to be inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced, and reflective.
At Penrith Anglican College, we believe that caring for and developing the whole child within an environment of Christian care is essential. As well as nurturing excellence in academia, sports, the performing, and creative arts, the College highly values the well-being of its students. The College believes that humans are made in God's image, and so all human life is valuable, deserving of care and respect. Motivated by the example of Jesus Christ, students are encouraged to value themselves, relationships with others, and God.
We believe the most effective way we can equip our students to strengthen their well-being is through implementing an evidence-based Pre K-12 Positive Education framework. Positive Education encompasses the science of Positive Psychology in conjunction with the best practice in teaching and learning within an educational setting (Green, Oades & Robinson, 2011). It encourages educators to look at the whole child, helping students to develop holistically through a proactive approach (Waters, 2011), building on the capabilities God has given humans.
