The University of Winnipeg Community Renewal Corporation, a not-for-profit charitable corporation, spearheads and manages campus development. UWCRC is guided by a four-pillared concept of sustainability (environmental, social, economic, and cultural) and actively develops partnerships with community, private, and public sector organizations.
From 2005 to 2015, The University of Winnipeg has been responsible for investing more than $200 million in facility construction and renovation in downtown and West End neighborhoods. In just over a decade, enrolment has increased by 55%, with approximately 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students attending classes. Several thousand more students take English language and professional development programs on our campus, making UWinnipeg the single largest educational center downtown.
The University of Winnipeg Foundation is a registered and incorporated charitable public foundation dedicated to fundraising and asset stewardship in support of the University's mission and Vision. To strengthen, deepen, and advance The University of Winnipeg. To create a long-term income stream to meet the Vision. With your help, the Foundation will build legacies for The University of Winnipeg, enabling the University to meet the needs better and inspire students' dreams, creating limitless possibilities for the future.
The Foundation is committed to fostering trust and accountability with our supporters and partners. Under the leadership and guidance of UWinnipeg" s new President, Dr. Annette Trimbee, and our dedicated all-volunteer Board of Directors, the Foundation will continue to work on behalf of the University and its students to increase capacity and stability. The Foundation strives to be innovative and responsive in our fundraising endeavors. From our new crowdfunding initiative to our Student Calling Program, we foster connections while upholding the University's commitment to sustainability with tremendous success.
UWinnipeg is located in downtown Winnipeg, on Treaty One territory in the heart of the Métis homeland. UWinnipeg is a medium-sized university with approximately 10,000 full- and part-time students. UWinnipeg is known for academic and research excellence, its commitment to sustainability, -- having exceeded Kyoto targets by reducing GHG emissions ten percent below 1990 levels, and Indigenous scholarship. UWinnipeg is committed to implementing recommendations from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and integrating Indigenous perspectives and knowledge within the academy and working with the surrounding community to encourage and support inner-city children in developing a university-bound identity. Dr. Trimbee's key accomplishments include completing a university-wide strategic directions plan, introducing a three-year budget strategy, and implementing an Indigenous Course Requirement for all undergraduate students, among the first in Canada.
