Artesis Plantijn University College is a brand new university college, originating from Artesis University College and Plantijn University College. AP or Artesis Plantijn University College Antwerp stands for Antwerp and Province, Arts and Professional, Ambitious and Passionate. In short, AP is the perfect name for our university college.
AP's 11.000 students, 24 vocational educations, and eight art programs are clustered into four faculties and two schools of arts. Even though AP University College is very young, its schools of arts have a long history: the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp was founded in 1898, and the Royal Academy of Fine arts is 350 years old.
AP puts students at the heart of everything. Thanks to personal coaching and intensive study career counseling, we help our students make the right study choice and finish their studies successfully.
AP is characterized by unity in diversity. The Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp provides a challenging environment for the soon-to-be designer or artist who wants a very individual and personal artistic education.
The Antwerp Academy can look back on a rich historical tradition that brings us back to 1663. As the world's fourth oldest academy, it has an international reputation of 350 years.

The Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp offers a bachelor and master program in Visual Arts with different courses going from the Fine arts (Sculpture, Painting, Printmaking, In situ³) and Photography, to the more design-oriented courses Graphic design, Jewellery Design and Gold- and Silversmithing, Fashion and Costume Design. Supported by theoretical courses, drawing, and observation, our students, work in all these courses to develop a personal artistic practice.
The Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp aims to educate enthusiastic and talented people to become creative, professional musicians and performing artists with significant autonomy and personality, able to slot into the contemporary socio-cultural and artistic frame of reference.
The Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp offers opportunities for extensive artistic cross-pollination, as courses in the three performing arts and teacher training are all grouped on the International Arts Campus deSingel. The partnership with deSingel ensures a unique exchange of talent, art, and knowledge that supports and fosters a strong international profile. Creativity and artistry can only exist where there is room for communication, research, and awareness.
They are educated in a mixture of theory and practical studies throughout the entire studies to ensure that they are equipped for future employment. With excellent work placements offered, students can utilize the opportunities granted to them, allowing them to integrate their knowledge into a real working environment.

The Artesis Plantijn Hogeschool Antwerpen (AP) offers professional bachelor degree programs in four departments and art (bachelor and master) programs in two school districts. AP combines the competencies of Artesis and Plantijn, who have gained experience in student and staff mobility, participation in Intensive Programmes, Leonardo Projects, and Interreg projects.
The university college focuses on social and cultural development and lifelong learning by offering a wide range of professional and artistic programs with an international dimension. AP sees internationalization as a means of innovation and value creation in society, making a valuable contribution to realizing the European knowledge economy. AP aims for every student & staff member to carry out the international mission of the university college. AP aims at enhancing the global, social, cultural, and economic development of the Antwerp region. The university college invests in strategic partnerships with regional and international organizations and other higher education institutions. To realize this goal, AP has created an extensive support structure within each Programme. A system of financial support and a necessary quality control procedure contribute to the realization of this policy.
The Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) provides the general quality framework for European and international cooperation activities a higher education institution may carry out within the Erasmus Plus Programme. The award of an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education is a pre-requisite for all higher education institutions located in an eligible country and willing to participate in individuals' learning mobility or cooperation for innovation and acceptable practices under the Programme.
