Over the last twelve years, the University has responded to national educational policy changes, to demographic shifts, to a radically different economy and marketplace requirements, to emerging local and regional needs, and to new technologies. All of these changes have led, in turn, to new expectations on the part of students, staff, and administrators. The University equips individuals with skills needed for significant contributions to society. This work is currently done through eleven faculties that provide a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs. The results reached in many programs involving international collaboration - particularly in mobility programs like Socrates, PHARE, Leonardo de Vinci, etc.—are impressive and are among the University's best achievements.

The overall impression we received of WUT is that of a very creative, energetic, active, and innovative University. All staff members, both teaching and research, are very enthusiastic and determined to experiment with all the new opportunities and modalities offered by I.T. Furthermore, use multimedia tools were available in most classrooms in the new buildings ( e.g., those of Economic Sciences and Law).

Our University has consistently performed its founders' role, endowed it as the primary knowledge center of western Romania. In a world of mobilities where distances have been enormously compressed as a result of the development of fast means of transport and new communication media, WUT stands out on the global educational market as a regional leader open to the international academic community, both from the perspective of scientific research and study programs.

Today WUT offers an effervescent intellectual environment which stimulates individual achievements, teamwork, and interdisciplinarity both to those who want to provide knowledge, innovate or perform in the field of research and artistic creativity and to those who are looking forward to joining our bachelor's, master's, doctoral or postdoctoral programs. The WUT charter, advanced scientific research, and education are the components of our University's mission.

The WUT Foundation was created in December 2012 as real active support for educational, research, and social responsibility WUT projects. The foundation's primary purpose is "to promote the values of culture, science, and civilization by creating a public-private partnership involving the WUT alumni, cultural and scientific personalities, and national and foreign social and economic area representatives."

In 2013 the foundation intended to carry on several activities with a beneficial impact on the WUT community:

  • To begin activities occasioned by the 70th anniversary of WUT. (the "WUT 70" event)
  • To organize congresses, conferences, workshops, and summer schools.
  • To support the research programs of young WUT academics.
  • To provide financial and logistic support for students to organize specific social, cultural, scientific, sports, and artistic events.
  • To support specific revitalizing projects targeting strategic WUT academic areas by funding specific activities.
  • To finance social and entertainment activities for WUT employees (access to swimming pools, theatre and opera tickets, etc.)
  • Other necessary legal activities to attain the foundation's goal: "to promote the values of culture, science, and civilization."
