St. Paul University Philippines (SPUP) was founded on May 10, 1907, as Colegio de San Pablo, by the Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres (Mother Ephrem Marie Fieu, Sr. Suzanne du Sacre Coeur Cran, Sr. Agnes de Sainte Anne Coupland, and Sr. Jeanne de St. Louis Bourrelly, Sr. Marie Angeline Acau and Postulant Sr. Ste. Foy de Sacre Coeur Sacramento) who came to Cagayan Valley upon the invitation of Bishop Dennis Dougherty. The school's name was changed to Colegio del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus in 1909, then to Sacred Heart of Jesus Institution (SHOJI) in 1925. The school started in a Spanish Convento, adjoining the Cathedral. However, due to increased enrollment and curricular expansion, the community moved to the Colegio de San Jacinto and its grounds in 1934 (where the University stands today), which the SPC Sisters acquired from the Dominican Order.

Today, SPUP is recognized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) as an Autonomous Institution Center of Excellence in Nursing, Center of Excellence in Teacher Education Center of Development in Information Technology Center of Teacher Training Institution, the first accredited Integrated Basic Education Unit in Cagayan Valley a deputized institution for the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency Accreditation Program (ETEAAP) Most Outstanding Student Services in the Philippines Outstanding Research/Academic Library in the Philippines and, the Lead School of the St. Paul University System.

For more than a century of existence, SPUP has proven its excellence and untarnished reputation of providing quality, Catholic, Paulinian education. As it offers primary education to graduate school programs, SPUP has continuously form graduates in personifying Catholic and Paulinian values and virtues, thereby making a difference in contributing to social transformation in the nation, the Church, and the entire humanity.

The Admissions Office is tasked to orchestrate efforts to build support for the University's brand and identity its messaging components and marketing processes, tools, and resources needed for an effective campaign to promote and sustain University's public image to recruit students for its various programs and services. It is the lead office in the promotions, marketing, and student-recruitment engagements for the University's academic programs and auxiliary services. Thus, it is through this office that the University integrates promotions and marketing activities and engages the whole institution in the implementation of its programs.

Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) are mandated to perform the significant triad functions of instruction, research, and extension. St. Paul University Philippines is tasked to be primarily responsible for advancing the frontiers of knowledge through research.

As a University, SPUP is dedicated to research to attain quality and excellence in the delivery of its educational services. Moreover, as a Catholic University, research in SPUP "recognizes and respects the principles and methods of each discipline, so long as the rights of the individual and the community are preserved within the confines of the truth and the common good" (Ex Corde Ecclesiae, 47).To promote and enhance a strong research culture, the faculty members are expected to develop in themselves the needed knowledge, skills, and attitude to do research.

The International Relations Office was instituted at St. Paul University Philippines as the University's arm in the promulgation of activities and tasks pertinent to the internationalization of SPUP. Specifically, it operates to fulfill SPUP's thrust on global education and internationalization by

forging international partnerships and linkages and making sure that provisions in the MOAs/MOUs with international partners are active,

employing strategic marketing activities to increase the number of both degree-seeking students and short-term course completers,

spearheading the University's application and eventual implementation of Transnational Education, and

1. getting involved in crafting/designing personnel and student mobility activities within the ASEAN region as part of the ASEAN Integration programs.

The office oversees all student-related services and affairs planned and organized for the students' holistic development. It oversees the services of the Guidance Center, Clinic, International Student Residence, and the Office of Student Affairs supervises the Paulinian Student Government's activities and coordinates with the different student clubs and organizations. The Clinic provides medical and dental care to students, faculty, staff, and maintenance. It also offers community-related services in partnership with health-related agencies and organizations.

SPUP's Special Programs and Services contribute to the University's mission of helping students and stakeholders maximize their learning opportunities and assisting them in their personal and professional growth. These special services provide academic support, programs, and related services for language proficiency, review programs for licensure examinations, cultural exchange programs, music, and sports development. They include workshops, short-term courses, tutoring, and individual academic sessions developing skills and attitudes beneficial to students and stakeholders in their pursuit of excellence.
