Stevenson University was founded in 1947 as Villa Julie College. In 2008, the college adopted the name Stevenson University to reflect its growing size, expanding mission, and breadth of academic offerings. Serving nearly 3,000 undergraduate students and 900 online students, the University is committed to providing exceptional experiences, a career connection, and community-centered student success.

Academic Advising at Stevenson University is a free support service available to all degree-seeking students. Advisors can assist with a wide range of academic matters, from selecting a major to graduate school planning. The Office of Student Success provides services and resources to students, faculty, and staff to strengthen academic performance, enhance student satisfaction, and improve student retention.
All enrolled degree-seeking students have an assigned advisor that specializes in a single major. Students who have not selected a major are assigned to advisors who only advise deciding students. The advising office's general advisors are available for complex situations and can help students on a walk-in basis, although appointments are encouraged. Students are responsible for fulfilling college requirements, but advisors are the assisting experts who can help students plan an efficient program of study.
