Brescia University provides a quality liberal arts education that shapes the whole person and is characterized by searching for knowledge and career preparation. Students may pursue over 50 majors and minors with caring faculty who are invested in their students' success. Each division and school offers a challenging curriculum and vast opportunities to learn both in and out of the classroom. At Brescia University, students are never just a number. With a 13 to 1 student to faculty ratio, small class sizes, and one-on-one time with faculty members means every student can thrive. Brescia University was founded by the Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph in 1925 as the Mount Saint Joseph Junior College for Women, established at Maple Mount, Kentucky. After the end of WWII, the need for coeducational extension courses in Owensboro was evident. At the bequest of city leaders, the Ursuline Sisters were called to create a second campus in downtown Owensboro. The two campuses were consolidated on the present site of Brescia University in 1950.
Brescia University is dedicated to providing a safe, protected, and orderly environment and considers the safety and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff, and visitors to be of paramount importance. The University employs a professional security staff to protect the members of the campus community.
With a valid Brescia University ID, members of the Brescia University community may enjoy access to academic, recreational, and administrative facilities. Access to the residence halls is limited to students living in those facilities and their guests. The public may attend cultural and athletic events in the facilities where the events are held.
