Our school was set out as "Cheng-Shiu Junior College of technology" in 1965. It was then reorganized with the Ministry of Education's approval and was renamed as "Cheng-Shiu Institute of Technology & Commerce" in 1980. In 1999, the school was promoted to be "Cheng Shiu Institute of Technology" and was further upgraded to "Cheng-Shiu University" in 2003.
The University is currently comprised of 19 academic departments, two bachelor programs, and 12 graduate institutes, organized under the College of Engineering, College of Management, and the College of Life and Creativity, in an arrangement designed to promote the cultivation of well-rounded individuals equally adept in science and the humanities.
We currently offer Day-Time Programs (Graduate Institute Two-year technical college for graduates from junior college Four-year technical college for graduates from vocational senior high school Five-year junior college for graduates from junior high school Two-year junior college for graduates from vocational senior high school), Continue-Education Programs (Two-year technical college for graduates from junior college Four-year technical college for graduates from vocational senior high school Two-year junior college for graduates from vocational senior high school), and the weekend Programs in the affiliated Institute of Continuing Education (Two-year technical college and junior college). We have successively founded undergraduate programs namely in Civil Engineering and Geomatics, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Management, Architecture and Interior Design, Computer Science and Information Engineering, Medical Engineering, International Business, Business Administration, Financial Management, Information Management, Creative Industry Management, Early Childhood Care and Education, Cosmetics and Fashion Styling, Applied Foreign Languages, Leisure and Sports Management, Food, and Beverage Management, Tourism and Recreation, Modern Living and Creative Design, Digital Multimedia Design, including the most critical disciplines in the field of business, technology and liberal arts.
Being upgraded to a university, we will spare no effort to pursue outstanding achievements and innovations with a brand new atmosphere and a grand setup. Since its founding, Cheng Shiu University has devoted equal attention to the elements that comprise a balanced education, aiming to cultivate morals, intelligence, the body, social skills, appreciation of arts and beauty, and professional skills. In line with national policy for economic development and the developmental requirements of commercial and trade information, we have established a fair learning and research environment with an emphasis on practical teaching and research results, stressing a holistic education to cultivate well-rounded students with healthy rational, intellectual, and emotional curiosity and maturity.
