The University participates actively in community development through collaborative ventures and outreach initiatives involving the local business and public sectors. The campus has lecture halls, modern laboratories for biomechanics, physiology, psychology, project rooms, cafés, restaurants, a sports hall, a gym, student union pub, and other premises – the campus has just about everything you need in one spot. Most of the time, you can experience the buzz of things happening here, and the campus is a natural meeting place for the University's students.
The research at Halmstad University is internationally renowned and is pursued in interdisciplinary innovation and research environments. The University takes an active part in society's development through extensive and recognized collaboration with both the private and public sectors. The University's research and education's central part is represented within three areas: Innovation Science, Information Technology, and Health and Lifestyle. These areas form the basis for the University's activities, and it is within these areas that the University offers doctoral education.
The research at the University takes place in close collaboration with players outside of the academic world. Within the University, a big part of the research takes place in collaboration between the research environments. The University's research is organized in research environments with a close connection to the University's four schools: the School of Health and Welfare, the School of Information Technology, the School of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, and the School of Business, Engineering and Science. Within each research environment, the researchers assemble around common research themes. Halmstad University provides health insurance coverage for students admitted to programs or courses of 60 credits or less and must pay tuition fees, the Swedish State's Insurance for Fee-Paying Students (FAS).
