The University of Siliwangi was established on May 20, 1978, together with the first stone laying of Siliwangi University Campus by Commander VI Siliwangi, then Major General Himawan Soetanto. The use of the name of Siliwangi University was confirmed and inaugurated on August 25, 1980, by the then Minister of Home Affairs, H. Amir Machmud. On April 1, 2014, through Presidential Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia, number 24 of 2014, Siliwangi University changed its status to State College, which was inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, H. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, in the State Palace building, Jakarta.
