In 2000, when we had the opportunity to become an independent higher educational institution, we had a definite notion of becoming the intellectual innovation center of Dunaújváros and the region. We alleged our training and research areas' enlargement into this service we have been building a European Campus. We can claim that we are prepared for the challenge - with the motorway M6 and the bridge built near Dunaújváros named after the settlement's former name - to build Hungary's latest logistic center.
With our conscious educational and infrastructural developments, we achieved that the number of students has been ten folded in the last fifteen years, and now we have about 3500 students. Since 2006 we offer eight BSc/BA undergraduate programs and twelve higher-level vocational training courses. Since 2007 our first Master course, the Teacher of Engineering MA program, is also available. At the same time, international students also study at our institution; we teach them Engineering Business Management BSc, Computer Engineering BSc, Material Science Engineer BSc, Mechanical Engineer BSc Communication and Media BA and Business Administration BA and Teacher of Engineering MA in the English language.
Due to the nearly 7 billion developments in the last twelve years, we have established a campus: our main downtown building and our neighboring student hostels, our establishments, and our rented student hostels create a real circle ring. As a Regional University Knowledge Centre, we are building a student-friendly, European campus to like living here, stay here, be what learn and why, to be all at our service what a European citizen makes happy today.
Our common interest is to provide training that corresponds to their needs just as future graduates with our current and prospective partners. We collaborate to serve one another's favor in the fields of education and research development. Our purpose is to continuously train ourselves to go before the challenges and find our speculations and success through our constructive intellectual work.
Our supporter, the Ministry of Education and Culture, recognized the importance of our regional endeavors, put its faith in it, and thanks to the taxpayers and our partners, today in our modern establishments, there is an excellent range of tools and internship opportunities also support the students' academic and practical preparation who study on engineering, informatics, teaching, economic and social science areas.
In our student hostels of high standard today, we can provide accommodation for all freshmen requiring accommodation. The units are equipped with their bathrooms, allow reaching the internal college informatics network, have Internet access, and watch cable television. The rooms' fridges, the very well equipped kitchens on the floors, and the laundry rooms provide full comfort for the students. Our student hostel is a member of the International Youth Hostel Association as well.
College of Dunaújváros was the first among the Hungarian state higher education institutions to receive an ISO 9001-2000 quality certificate following the EU regulations.
The auditing was done by the Norwegian Det Norske Veritas Ltd., an independent quality certifying organization. Thus our institution also meets international quality requirements.
Student life at the College of Dunaújváros has been shaped by the more than 270-year-old traditions of Selmec that mold teachers and students of the College into a very cohesive community. International students arrive in this community, and they get all the support they need from Hungarian students studying here and their teachers. The Department of International Relations, the Students' Self-government, and the College and other service units' exceptional authorized staff help students adapt through various organized programs.
Different organizations, such as foreign student committees, students' professional clubs, and self-motivated clubs, work within the institution.
The International Relations Department is responsible for coordinating the international study programs, student and academic exchange programs, and international relations. Advice and support are given to our institutes, staff, and students on exchange programs, international relations and projects, and to our international students to improve their social and practical integration at our College.
