The Johannes Kepler University (JKU) Linz boasts future-oriented academic degree programs, excellence in teaching and research, numerous partnerships in Austria and abroad, and a unique campus with park-like grounds. Although a young university (established 1966), the JKU has become a cutting-edge institution for science, academics, business, and the community in a short period. Over 19,000 students are enrolled in over 60 new, hands-on academic degree programs with outstanding career prospects. Research conducted at the faculties and institutes is recognized worldwide.
The Faculty of Social Sciences, Economics, and Business (SOWI) have created degree programs according to national and international quality standards, thus contributing significantly to addressing complex social and business issues. A unique feature in Austria, Linz offers a complete spectrum of degree programs in social, economics, and business studies.
The Faculty of Law (RE) focuses on excellence in public, private, and international business. Transnational cooperation efforts deal with legal issues on an international level. The JKU is the only university in Austria that offers a multimedia Diploma degree program in Law and boasts one of Austria's most modern, user-friendly law libraries.
The Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences (TN) works closely with both local and international businesses and industries. Various cooperation efforts yield numerous synergy effects that benefit both educators and students. The TN Faculty offers a broad, interdisciplinary range of academic degree programs, and the JKU Science Park provides high-tech classrooms and modern facilities in support of teaching and research.
The Faculty of Medicine (MED) is the most recent addition to the JKU Linz. Opened in 2014, the faculty offers an academic degree in Human Medicine. According to the new Bachelor-Master's degree system, the Johannes Kepler University Linz is the first Austrian university to offer studies in human medicine. The Bachelor's degree program will be conducted in cooperation with the Medical University of Graz. In the final phase, the JKU Linz will accept 300 students per year to the medical degree program.
Since its inception in 1966, the JKU has become a thriving and innovative center for science, academics, and society. Today, the JKU has become one of the largest educational institutions in Upper Austria and enjoys an international reputation not only in conducting base-knowledge research but also in applied-oriented research. The university offers interdisciplinary and hands-on educational programs designed to meet today's business and societal needs. Our cooperation agreements with over 300 partner universities in over 50 countries and over 120 professors and over 1800 academic faculty ensure excellent research study conditions.
The JKU Linz is ranked among the world's best young universities (under 50 years). For the second year, the most recent "Times Higher Education 100 Under 50" ranking placed the JKU among the Top 70 of the world's best young universities (under 50 years). With nine active Christian Doppler laboratories on campus, the JKU is among the best universities in Austria.

The JKU offers continuing education programs for working students in cooperation with the FernUniversität in Hagen. The JKU is an easily navigable campus-style university offering numerous services, including campus-wide WiFi. The new JKU Science Park is also a highlight for faculty, students, and partners in industry and business: modern facilities in three new buildings enable cutting-edge research and teaching at the highest level.
