  1. We firmly believe that children who are happy and inspired succeed. Our broad curriculum, exceptional pastoral care, and nurturing environment at Wellesley help to foster the individual strengths of every pupil. Academic success is a priority, and our pupils benefit from small classes, superb facilities, and dedicated, talented teachers. We are proud of the excellent results that our pupils achieve in their entrance exams to a wide range of the UK’s top public schools. However, at Wellesley education is so much more than just what is learned in the classroom. We aim to lay strong foundations and teach our pupils vital life skills that will help them to succeed throughout their life. All the children are encouraged to take part in a wide array of activities, and they each get the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports, helping them to learn the importance of teamwork, resilience, and how to win and lose graciously. Pupils are encouraged to try new experiences and take a few risks, which helps them to build their self-confidence, ignite passions and make lifelong friends. We instill strong values in every child and encourage them to be well-mannered, considerate, and kind. By the time our pupils move on to their senior school they are confident, motivated young adults, well prepared to thrive and deal with the excitements and challenges that lie ahead. We encourage you to come and visit us so that you can see for yourself what makes Wellesley such an outstanding school. These values are at the heart of the school and are the foundation of our community. We aim to provide a high-quality, broad education that opens up a world of possibilities for our pupils, in a caring and nurturing environment. Every pupil is encouraged to participate in a wide array of extra-curricular activities, creative arts, and sports, with an emphasis on building resilience and self-confidence, so that by the time they leave the school, they are well-rounded, motivated young adults who flourish at their senior schools of choice. We aspire to recognize and nurture the individual strengths of each pupil and equip them with life skills required to help them flourish in the classroom, develop new interests, ignite passions and build their confidence. This is supported by first-class pastoral care that underpins everything we do. The chapel is an important part of our Christian ethos, with values-based messages permeating throughout the Wellesley community. The children are also encouraged to contribute to the wider community, through building links, helping people, and raising money for charity. As a charitable trust, Wellesley does not operate for profit, and we provide scholarships and bursaries to widen access to all that we offer. Wellesley House is an outstanding, small, family-orientated preparatory school where pupils aged between 3 – 13 years have a chance to shine – in the classroom, in the creative arts, or on the sports field – supported by exceptional pastoral care. Wellesley offers a range of day and boarding options. All pupils benefit from the extended school day and exceptional facilities. The quality and breadth of education provided open up a world of possibilities, and Welleslians move on to their senior schools of choice as motivated, confident, resilient young adults well-prepared to thrive and deal with the excitements and challenges that lie ahead. 3. Wellesley is known for the excellence of its education, the beauty of its setting, its gifted faculty, and the uniqueness of its campus culture. But most of all, Wellesley is known for the thousands of accomplished, thoughtful women it has sent out into the world for over 100 years—women who are committed to making a difference. Every year, some 2,400 of the world's top undergraduate women are challenged to exceed their own highest personal and intellectual expectations. The mastery Wellesley graduates demonstrate across the professional and vocational spectrum, and the influence they wield—whether in their communities or on the world stage—is testament to a singularly empowering undergraduate experience. Wellesley's lively academic community places a high value on rigorous, probing inquiry and creative, cross-discipline thinking. Its collaborative approach to scholarship encourages students to question, debate, and refine their points of view, not only with each other but also with our world-class faculty, often working directly with them on groundbreaking projects. A Wellesley education fosters the highest standard of readiness for the "real world" in its graduates, in terms of ability to think, act, and contribute meaningfully and effectively in their chosen areas of interest. Wellesley's full-engagement academic philosophy extends to the running of the College itself. The student's voice is central to decision-making here. Students serve on the Board of Trustees' central committees, participate in faculty search, and contribute to strategic planning. Students participate in a wide range of extracurricular projects: The College and its surrounding community and the greater Boston area offer hundreds of internships, advocacy projects, and the rare advantages of being a vital member of the single most immense academic "hotspot" the country. Expected to be fully engaged while at Wellesley, students carry this sense of purposeful involvement and personal commitment throughout life. It is the signal mark of a Wellesley woman. The sheer sense of the scale of the breathtaking natural environment, in which buildings are thoughtfully sited, distinguish Wellesley's physical setting in the classically New England town of Wellesley, Massachusetts, just outside of Boston. Home to leading institutions such as the Albright Institute, the Knapp Social Science Center, the Davis Museum, The Newhouse Center for the Humanities, and the world-renowned Wellesley Centers for Women, Wellesley's resources are a magnet not only for the surrounding community and metropolitan area they attract attention—and scholars—from around the world. Everything about Wellesley College bespeaks its commitment to women and to providing them with an unequaled educational experience that honors and cultivates not only what is best about each of them and their potential, but about what women offer our world. Non Ministrari sed Ministrare. "Not to be ministered unto, but to minister," proclaims Wellesley's motto, capturing in four Latin words the College's mission: To provide an excellent liberal arts education for women who will make a difference in the world. Smart, serious women, choose Wellesley because it offers one of the best liberal arts educations—and total learning environments—available anywhere. But they graduate with more than a highly regarded degree and four memorable years. They leave as "Wellesley women," uniquely prepared to make meaningful personal and professional contributions to the "real world" and be significant influences in it. The world's preeminent college for women, Wellesley is known for intellectual rigor, its belief in the enduring importance of service (and putting that belief into practice), and its cultivation in students of an inclusive, pragmatic approach to leadership. For a quick overview of Wellesley, visit the Wellesley 100, which shares 100 marvelous things about Wellesley, set within a magical interactive online world or the video playlist, a series of noble but incomplete attempts to capture the immensity of all that is Wellesley. Or read our student blogs. After that, come on back. You can go to many places from here. Read about visiting, cost & financial aid, or apply already! Gaze upon our quick facts, learn about our unique first-year experience or contact us, which we would like very much. Start anywhere; bring snacks to travel well. Student Financial Services (SFS), located in Schneider Center, is a one-stop destination for prospective and returning students. The SFS staff is here to assist students and their families in understanding the aid application process, parent and student loans, payment plans, student employment, and more. Whether or not you receive financial aid, we are here to help families figure out how to pay for college. We are confident that a Wellesley education is one of the best investments your family can make. Wellesley is discovery and creation, teaching and learning, respectful and probing discourse, and the shared experience of intellectual and personal growth. We are committed to being a scholarly beacon of light for women worldwide who want to make a difference. Wellesley's devotion to academic distinction pervades the campus. You can see it in the caliber of our faculty. Wellesley professors are outstanding scholars whose love of teaching illuminates a classroom. Faculty members respect students for their intellect, attention to scholarship, and what they can bring to the classroom experience. You can see it in the breadth and depth of academic programs, research opportunities, international study, and internship experiences—where an interdisciplinary emphasis encourages broader learning and more creative insight into problems, allowing a student to deepen her understanding of the world and herself. You can see it visible on our campus. Look around... You'll find state-of-the-art labs, studios, instructional technology, athletic facilities, and a nationally-known museum. The campus embodies the hopes and aspirations of generations of pioneering women scholars who built and maintained a physical space that would instruct and inspire them in their work. Its varied landscapes reflect the diversity of thought and approach that is central to the Wellesley experience. For more than 135 years, women have come here to teach, learn, discover, and grow. If you join us, you become part of our shared enterprise that extends far beyond the campus and the times in which we live. View full university
