Tongmyong University was established in 1977 by the parent corporation, Tongmyong Lumber, one of the leaders in the Republic of Korea's industrialization in the 1960s and 70s. Tongmyong Institute of Culture & Education was founded by Kang Seok-jin, Honorary Doctor of Philosophy. On March 1, 2006, Tongmyong College (founded in March 1979) and Tongmyong University of Information Technology were integrated. We firmly believe that the most idealistic way of thinking is the most realistic one for a new general program university. The first floor consists of reading rooms and a librarian desk. The humanities & social science reference room is located on the third floor. The fourth and fifth floors consist of reference rooms for architectural engineering design and language literature. Each floor has main themed reference rooms and designated librarians in charge of service. The educational goal of Tongmyong University is based on specialized knowledge and technology to cultivate human resources, and we strive to achieve a high standard of industry-university cooperation to be applied in the local, national, and international corporations. The vision of Tongmyong University is to develop student-centered programs, aiming at the national and global opportunities of today and the future. The society of now is an information-oriented world with new knowledge, technology, and innovative information. We exert our best effort to adjust to the environment where creative professionals can keep pace with the dramatic changes in this society and cope with these changes actively in the upcoming digital era.
