  1. Four respected partners – Barony, Elmwood and Oatridge Colleges, and SAC – merged in 2012 to become Scotland's Rural College – SRUC. We exist to deliver comprehensive skills, education, and business support for Scotland's land-based industries, founded on world class and sector-leading research, education, and consultancy. The integration of these three complementary 'knowledge exchange' services is significant to all interested in land-based activities – be they learners, businesses, communities, or policymakers. The land-based industries' future will be extremely challenging with competing demands and new opportunities to be addressed. The next generation of business leaders and policymakers will need to be highly skilled and knowledgeable to navigate a complex operating environment. To achieve this, we will draw on our accomplished history of more than a century of success in supporting land-based communities and industries. Strong in our heritage, yet more robust still as SRUC, we will strive to lead the way in delivering economic, social, and environmental benefits while providing a strong voice for our rural industries. SRUC is an integrated institution delivering tertiary education, research, and consultancy to serve a wide range of stakeholders in agriculture, land, and the rural sector. We are a designated higher education institution and are recognized by the Scottish Funding Council as a Small Specialist Institution. SRUC also receives funding from the Scottish Government Rural and Environmental Science and Analytical Services Division for research and consulting activity. Our primary education activities are delivered from six campuses, including four education farms: Aberdeen, Ayr, Barony (nine miles from Dumfries), Edinburgh, Elmwood (in Cupar, Fife), and Oatridge (in Ecclesmachan, West Lothian). Consultancy activity is delivered through 26 consultancy offices spread across Scotland and northern England and eight veterinary disease surveillance centers in Scotland. Committed to excellence in the advancement, communication, and translation of knowledge throughout the rural sector. Leading innovation and sustainable development in agriculture, land, and the rural sector. SRUC is committed to valuing diversity, advancing equality of opportunity, and respecting human rights in all aspects of our activities. Eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimization, and other prohibited conduct. Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a relevant protected characteristic and those who do not. Foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not. The Public Sector Equality Duty covers the following protected characteristics: The specific duties in Scotland were created by secondary legislation in the Equality Act 2010 (Specific Duties) (Scotland) Regulations 2012. Statutory specific equality duties for Scotland came into force on 27th May 2012. The eight components are: In August 2016, the Scottish Funding Council launched its plans to address the gender imbalance in subjects offered across Scotland's Colleges and Universities and the gender gap between male and female undergraduates. SRUC seeks to support those considering further and higher education who are care experienced or act as carers. We encourage those who are thinking of studying at SRUC who are care experienced or are carers to contact us to discuss how we can support their transition. The Education Division has identified staff to guide, advise, and support and has a plan of action to further develop its services and evaluate progress. The diversity of the SRUC campuses allows a broad range of different facilities and services to cater to. At SRUC, we have excellent conference and seminar facilities. We also host several of the UK's leading land-based technology centers, such as the Scottish Forestry and Dairy Technology centers at Barony Campus. Our campuses also host unique facilities, such as an 18 hole golf course at Elmwood Campus and the Scottish National Equestrian Centre at Oatridge. At SRUC, we have excellent conference and seminar facilities that can accommodate small groups to over 400 indoors and even larger for outside events, catering, and hospitality if required. Having amenities such as the Scottish National Equestrian Centre based at our campuses allows us to offer some unique services tailored to your needs. If you are into golf, you can also hire the boardroom and accommodation facilities out of our International Office overlooking the prestigious St Andrews Golf Course. Craibstone Estate is situated on the outskirts of Aberdeen. It offers the unique advantage of proximity to Aberdeen Airport and City Centre, combined with the tranquillity and seclusion. Its ideal location allows easy access to the "Granite City" with its cultural, sporting, leisure, and shopping amenities, as well as more rural places of interest in Aberdeenshire. Conferences and meetings are welcomed at Craibstone. We can offer clients a peaceful and relaxing environment with a professional service from start to finish. A full range of audio-visual equipment is available in all our training rooms apart from the Green Room. We aim to provide precisely what our clients want at a price to fit Craibstone Gardenindividual budgets. We can provide an interview room for a few hours to providing residential conferences for a week. For availability of training, rooms use the contact details below. Available for meetings and conferences, with a selection of menus and costs. If you would rather discuss a bespoke menu or have particular requirements, contact Gwen Bruce via the details below. We will also be happy to provide any additional or specific needs you may have for your function, such as flowers, wine, chocolates, or theme ideas.
