  2. St Peters Lutheran School has been providing a Christian education for children from Dimboola and surrounding districts since 1958. Our school is unique as it is a small school with small classes and a low teacher to pupil ratio. This creates a sense that the school is a family with a personal and caring approach. We are well equipped with updated resources, including computers and interactive whiteboards in each class. St Peters offers a safe Christian environment that endeavors to provide a diverse learning environment that nurtures mutual respect, love, and care. Over recent years we have upgraded a range of facilities, with the most notable being a new synthetic playground surface and basketball court, new computers, and iPads for students to use in class. At St. Peters Lutheran Primary School, we have a rigorous and challenging curriculum. Our experienced and carefully appointed teachers have a wide range of expertise, skills, and knowledge, which we have incorporated into our broad and stimulating curriculum. For many years St. Peter's congregation was very conscious of its responsibility for Christian education and had already organized a Saturday School to overcome the limitations of a Sunday school. Progressively, this forward-looking congregation realized the Saturday school's limitation, so the next step a Christian day school. Ownership and ultimate responsibility for St. Peter's Lutheran School rest with St. Peter's congregation, which regularly appoints a School Council to discharge the responsibility of overall care of the school. Day to day internal running of the school is undertaken by the appointed Principal. St. Peter's Congregation has generously supported the school financially since its inception in 1958. St. Peter's Lutheran School was opened in 1958. A year earlier, the St. Peters Lutheran Congregation had set to establish a Christian day school on a Mallee block just east of the Churchyard. Initially, classes were held in the hall until a portable two-classroom school was built and delivered by Stawell Timber Industries of Lake Road Stawell. View full school

  4. Our aims are expressed in three words – Opportunity, Excellence, and Success. We aim to provide rich learning experiences that allow every child to master basic skills, discover and develop talents, deepen interests and succeed in ways they did not imagine possible. For early reading, we follow a synthetic phonics scheme called ‘Read, Write Inc.’ This is taught within a text-rich environment where children are encouraged to read for pleasure. Children in Reception and Year 1 have a daily phonics lesson (of varying lengths), completing all the phases before continuing with English lessons further up the school. Early mathematics is taught through the use of ‘Mathematics Mastery’. Mathematics Mastery is an innovative maths teaching framework that focuses on using mathematics principles to problem-solve. We use objects, pictures, and words to help pupils explore maths and understand the role it plays in their lives. The first entry point for starting school in Nursery. We have two thriving nursery classes (morning and afternoon) with 52 children in each. Children are eligible for Nursery the term after their third birthday, and we have intakes in September, January and April. Note that the majority of places are allocated in September and January, with places in April allocated on a 'one out, one in' basis only. Children eligible for the April intake (born between January and the end of March) who are not offered a place will automatically be put through to the September round. Most children for whom Wimbledon Park Nursery is their first choice can secure a place. Merton accepts online applications for Nursery places between September and mid-January each year for places in the following academic year. Do contact us with any queries and for information about Parent Tours, run throughout the Autumn term. Please note, a place in the Nursery does not give priority to a Reception place. Children start in Reception in September after they turn 4 years old, with the application deadline in the January of the same year (full details below). We hold prospective parent tours on many Wednesday mornings during the Autumn term – please get in touch to make an appointment. Demand for places into Reception has far exceeded our capacity for many years. To provide extra places to meet that demand we increased the admission number from 60 to 90 children (three Reception classes) in 2011. Despite adding the extra class, unfortunately, we are still unable to offer places to all families for whom Wimbledon Park is their closest school of choice. For the past two years, the furthest distance (in a straight line from the school gate) for places outside of the admission priority area has been slightly over 200m. In the case of an unsuccessful application, the applicant has the right to appeal. All children are taught to play the recorder in Year 3. We also offer tuition in a variety of instruments including the drums, piano, keyboard, violin, flute, trumpet, French horn, guitar, and clarinet. There are annual music concerts where all the children can take part including our Christmas singing concert, Summer Serenade, year group performances, and our Year 6 summer production. The DfE have recently reinforced the need “to create and enforce a clear and rigorous expectation on all schools to promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.” Children are placed in mixed ability classes according to their age. Within each class, there may be further groupings according to the needs of the children and the work being undertaken. We also set children in Years 5 and 6 for Maths lessons to match teaching to attainment more closely. Additionally, all the children are divided between four houses (Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow) with brothers and sisters joining the same house. The house system is used to maintain strong pastoral care across different year groups as the school grows. Each term there are house days and events (charity fundraising, sports, music, picnic, etc.) where the children work and interact as a house team. The Governors of Wimbledon Park Primary School work in partnership with the Local Authority (LA) and the school community to provide the best possible education for our children. Parents, former parents, community volunteers, staff, and local business people are represented on the governing body, which has 12 members. The governing body meets formally four times every year, but governors regularly visit the school. The Governing Body has three Committees, each with terms of reference to carry out statutory functions that meet three times a year. We have a commitment and responsibility to safeguard children and staff and this includes their online activity. Internet access at school, provided through the London Grid for Learning, is strictly filtered and monitored to ensure that children are as safe as possible when using computers at school. From our Online Safety assemblies, we know that almost all children have a home computer/device with internet access and children enjoy using computers and the internet at home regularly, so we see online safety as a shared responsibility between home and school. High-quality teaching, positive learning, and accurate assessment are at the heart of our school ethos, and our inspiring, enthusiastic and dedicated staff are committing to providing this for every child. We have a program of weekly professional development for all teachers and teaching assistants. This is delivered by our lead teachers, supplemented by occasional sessions drawing on wider educational expertise. We have the highest expectations for every child, not just to achieve strong academic results, but also to become highly successful learners. All office staff, teaching assistants, and lunchtime supervisors have received First Aid training. Additionally, some teaching staff has had emergency first aid training. If a child is ill or has an accident at school, we will contact you if we feel it is necessary. We will always contact you if there is an emergency concerning your child. For this reason, you must keep us up to date with daytime telephone contact numbers. For legal reasons, staff members are unable to administer medicines. If prescribed medication needs to be taken during the school day, you can either come into school to administer the medicines yourself or sign a form in the school office giving explicit permission for staff to administer these with details of the medicines required. Please note that staff cannot administer any prescribed medication. Separate arrangements apply in the case of long-term medical treatment (i.e. asthma, allergies, etc). We do have children at the school whose allergies are potentially life-threatening, and we, therefore, adhere to a Nut Free policy in school to minimize any threat to them.
  5. We welcome you to our school where we believe that every child should have the chance to learn, achieve, develop confidence, and ‘make their mark’. We are committed to providing a broad, balanced and enjoyable education for all children within a supportive and caring environment. We strongly believe that it is important for all members of our school community to treat each other with respect and to inspire each other to succeed. At our school, we do not settle for the second-best and we aspire for every child to achieve highly and to develop the confidence and skills to ‘make their mark’ and become a life-long learner! What our children experience is positive role models and strong relationships – with adults and each other, a thought-provoking curriculum that secures high standards in the basic skills as well as the range of subject, developing cultural capital, life skills, and academic excellence in a variety of subject areas, an understanding of the importance of hard work and a growth mindset to be successful. What our children will achieve is high standards across the curriculum, an understanding of what it looks like to be good citizens, and awareness of the possibilities and opportunities that will be available to them in life – we want all our children to know they can be successful. What our school will look like, feel like, and sound like daily is happy pupils and adults celebrating the great work and learning of all, welcoming, warm, positive, fun, and polite, a buzz around learning and achievement, respectful conversations, support, and challenge – focused on everyone learning together. Values and The School Creed: We believe that to have a good future We must try our best in the present We believe in working hard, learning from our failures, and celebrating our successes We believe in resilience, kindness, good manners, and respect We know that we are safe At Winton, we are proud of who we are All maintained schools in England will be required by the government to teach the revised National Curriculum from September 2014. The Early Years Team at Winton is the Nursery and Reception Class. The classes in the school are named after the planets in the solar system. Reception is the beginning of a child’s learning journey. Skills that they use as they grow and progress are based in the Early Years. The reception class is called Sun Class because their learning revolves around the key experiences and skills they receive in Reception, just as the solar system revolves around the sun. Our Nursery is called Little Stars, as they are their little suns waiting to grow and develop. The Early Years Team are committed to creating a love of learning in all children our aims are: To provide a broad and balanced curriculum for every child to develop the building blocks for future learning To plan a curriculum that is relevant, fun, and based on real experience To provide first-hand experiences to put their learning into context To provide a safe and secure learning environment To develop confidence, independence, and self-esteem To encourage and motivate children to become independent learners To support children on the first steps of their learning journey To provide a free flow curriculum where learning happens inside and outside Take children interests and use them to plan relevant activities To provide children with a secure grounding in preparation for year 1 We believe the curriculum should reflect the needs of all learners and ensure that pupils are challenged across all curriculum subjects. Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education are at the heart of everything we do at Winton. We believe all pupils should have the opportunity to make mistakes and learn from them. Our curriculum education ensures that children think of themselves as ‘global citizens’ and how they can make a difference e.g. year 3 and 4 raised money during their rainforest unit to protect an area of the rainforest. 6. At William Ford School, we aim to provide the very highest quality of education within a Christian context. Online learning offers fantastic opportunities to engage and improve pupil learning. The following websites are frequently used in our school. Log-in details will be provided by the class teacher should you require them. We have an assembly daily from 2:45 - 3:10 pm. Each day is delivered by a different member of staff and has a different focus. On Monday, our assembly is delivered by a member of the clergy from Dagenham Parish Church. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are class and year group assemblies delivered by the class teacher or year group leader. Our assembly on Thursday is delivered by our Deputy Headteachers and Friday is our 'Celebration' assembly led by our Headteacher and focuses on the recent achievements and outstanding work produced by the pupils. For children to make the best possible progress in reading, they should read daily to a parent, guardian, or older sibling. We recommend to parents that they aim to read for 10 minutes and to make a note of this in the pupil's homework diary. To progress in understanding the book as well as being able to read it aloud, parents may wish to ask questions about the text such as about events that have happened, what a character might be thinking or feeling, or for a prediction about what might happen next in the text. It is also beneficial to the children to have the opportunity to discover genres, book types, and authors that interest them and this can be achieved through trips to a local library. This can support their enjoyment of reading and also introduce them to text types they might be unfamiliar with. Each child will receive at the start of each week a list of spelling words to learn. The pupil should once each evening look at the word, cover it over, write it down, and then check to see if they wrote it correctly. The words may be chosen due to a particular spelling pattern or sound within them or if they are keywords that relate to a topic being studied. Also, the National Curriculum contains a list of words that children in Britain are expected to know how to spell and these words are used in the Spelling Test as part of SATs in Year 6. These words will be covered in our weekly spelling sheets but parents may wish to help their children practice at home too. Parents who wish to pay using cash will need to take their original letter to a local store that displays the ParentPay logo. The store will scan the barcode on the letter to top up the account. Alternatively, our school office can issue parents with a plastic card that contains this barcode. The first card is free of charge for parents but further cards will be charged at £1.50 each. Year 6 has a football team during the autumn and spring terms led by Mr. Harrington. This year the team did us proud and finished runner-up in the Barking and Dagenham Post cup. Our STEM Club is a powerful and highly enjoyable way to engage students with STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Through the STEM Club, students gain practical, teamwork, and leadership skills. Also, their confidence and engagement in STEM increases as well as their motivation to study STEM and enter STEM careers. The STEM club takes place on Mondays and the children are escorted from William Ford to Dagenham Park school where the club takes place in their laboratories. The choir was started in 2015 to give children the opportunity to learn a variety of songs and perform in many settings. William Ford’s Choir is building a reputation with singing having hosted a concert in the summer of 2016 and performed in DagFest. This year, the children will be learning songs which will be used in the young voices convert on 29th January.
  7. Welcome to William Tyndale Primary School. Our school is 'very focused on the development of the whole child and the high achievement of all pupils' (Ofsted March 2013). It is a 'happy and friendly place where it is clear that every child does matter' (Ofsted 2007). The school’s recognition by Ofsted as ‘outstanding’ confirms our commitment to high standards and expectations for all pupils. Our diverse community provides the firm base for a curriculum with a creative approach. We have recently redeveloped many aspects of our curriculum including science, humanities, maths, and English as well as introducing Latin in all junior classes. At William Tyndale Primary School we aim to create an attractive, stimulating, and safe learning environment, designed to realize every pupil’s potential. We aim to prepare pupils to take responsibility, within an academic and social context, for developing positive behavior alongside independent learning skills, so that they may be well equipped for their future. We value a broad and creative curriculum, and a calm, purposeful working atmosphere in school, for children to develop enthusiasm and confidence and to experience enjoyment and inspiration in their learning. We value the importance of each child’s starting point - and personal achievements measured against this - to challenge pupils at all levels of ability to succeed, to strive for excellence, and to achieve the highest standards of which they are capable in all subjects as they progress through the school. We value the impact of the performing and visual arts and sport on children’s experience and success we aim to complement academic study with regular opportunities for students in all three of these areas. We believe that our school is a learning community for everyone – pupils, teachers, parents, carers, volunteers, visitors, and governors. To that end, we promote collaboration and open communication between home, school, and the wider community for the good of all children. We also aim to provide each member of staff with continuous professional development opportunities that will enable them to do their best for our pupils. We promote high levels of interest and creative thinking with a strong emphasis on developing language throughout all the curriculum areas. Through exploration in a safe, stimulating environment the children develop confidence and an interest in the world around them. The EYFS areas of learning are: Communication and Language Physical Development Personal, Social, and Emotional Development Literacy Mathematics Understanding the World Expressive Arts and Design In each area, there are Early Learning Goals, which summarise the knowledge, skills, and understanding that all young children should have gained by the end of the Reception year. William Tyndale's Foundation Stage has a stimulating and well-equipped outside area. The children develop their physical strength and agility through using climbing equipment, bikes, and scooters. The children visit the music room every week for a lesson with a specialist music teacher and attend the singing assembly. At William Tyndale, there are opportunities throughout the year for the children to perform and share their achievements. Communication between home and school is a big priority at William Tyndale. Before starting in Nursery and Reception, every child has a home visit. Our aim in the Foundation Stage is for children to feel safe, supported, and happy at school. We want to nurture their love of learning and the confidence to embrace a range of exciting opportunities. Through interesting activities and experiences, we create a rich and stimulating environment.
  8. William Byrd Primary Academy based in Harlington, we are a happy, busy three-form entry primary school set in expansive, leafy grounds. If you visit us, you will find a dedicated and talented team of staff, hard-working and engaging pupils along with supportive and proud parents. We converted to Academy status in September 2017 and have joined the Middlesex Learning Partnership family. We are proud to work alongside our new primary and secondary partners, Belmore Primary Academy and Barnhill Community High, to ensure the highest standards of education and academic achievement for all. At William Byrd Primary School, children will be regarded as having special educational needs if “they have a learning difficulty which calls for special educational provision to be made for them”. This provision can include the involvement of extra teachers, or specific learning materials, special equipment, a different teaching strategy, or external advice from specialist support staff e.g. speech and language teachers or Educational Psychologists. At William Byrd Primary Academy, we support students with learning difficulties and emotional needs to allow them to achieve their full potential. We identify barriers to learning and implement interventions to support students’ learning and wellbeing. The concerns regarding students raised by members of staff or parents are further investigated by a class teacher liaising with Assistant Heads. We believe that children should be offered full access to a broad and balanced curriculum to enable them to become valuable citizens. We also ensure that all staff are aware of the needs of individual children and receive up-to-date information and training wherever necessary. William Byrd Primary Academy strives to provide a safe environment where children can achieve their full potential in all aspects of their learning. We will achieve this by creating a learning environment that is stimulating and challenging, inclusive and enjoyable. William Byrd aims to promote a sense of belonging to our school and the local community. At William Byrd, we strongly believe in the power of giving children choices and consequences and allowing children time to make the right choice. Through consistent delivery of appropriate consequences, children are encouraged to make positive choices that benefit their learning. We are committed to maximizing the achievement of all children and we have high expectations of all children. We do not believe that children who are eligible for pupil premium have any predetermined likelihood to underachieve. We do understand though that some of these pupils may need to make faster progress than non-eligible pupils and we are focused on achieving this. We have a coherent and focused approach to raising the achievement of all children. We recognize that children eligible for Pupil Premium face barriers to achievement and we will use Pupil Premium funding to help address these. We will focus on attendance, attitudes to school and engagement with school, external factors, professional development focusing on improving outcomes for eligible pupils, improving the quality of teaching and learning, language acquisition, parental engagement, development of literacy and numeracy skills. We will use our assessment and tracking system to track and enable thorough analysis of performance to identify pupils who are underachieving and put in place relevant targeted interventions to address this. We will ensure that staff at all levels know who eligible children are and have the time and resources to track and support them appropriately. We will have a Senior Leader who will have a clear overview of how funding is allocated and the difference it is making to the outcomes of pupils termly.
  9. Willow Tree is a place of learning for all. We put success within the reach of all children and help them to achieve their full potential. Our school works to develop confident, reflective, creative learners that will grow into valued members of the community and make a positive contribution to twenty-first-century society. Learning at Willow Tree is fun and extends beyond the classroom. Special events and activities help to make our school an exciting place to be. Regular visits to places of interest enrich the children’s learning. Children can express themselves through the arts and music and there is a variety of music tuition available. Both indoor and outdoor physical activities play a vital contribution to our children’s well-being. Our children are guided and supported to grow and succeed academically, emotionally, and spiritually. Parents are partners in this process and are always welcome in our school. We will help you to understand and make the most of your child’s time in school. At Willow Tree, we aim to provide the very best for every child. We offer high-quality education within a caring and stimulating environment. We place a great emphasis on the social and moral development of the children and providing an education that prepares them for their place in the world. We want children to feel safe and secure in the school and to display behavior that they will be proud of. We ensure that children have access to adults to whom they can seek out and confide in as necessary. We aim to provide an atmosphere of co-operation with our parents because we rely on home school liaison for every child to take advantage of what the school has to offer. By the time a child leaves us at age 11, we will expect that your child will have achieved a level of reading, writing, and maths that is appropriate to his/her ability. We also hope that your child will be independent, respect themselves and others, be self-motivated, and will become an expert learner. This will provide a firm foundation on which to move on to secondary education. Our vision 'Inspiring Learners for Life' is at the heart of everything we do.
  10. Welcome to Whitefield School. At Whitefield, our first responsibility is to provide a happy and safe environment that helps all our children to succeed and meet or exceed national expectations. We know our pupils well and we do our very best to make sure every child is provided for as an individual. We have high expectations and aspirational aims for our school and our children. We are committed to our school being a safe and inclusive place where learning is nurtured and encouraged in a happy, caring, and fun environment. We all work for our school to be a happy place where good behavior is expected and all children enjoy their educational journey. To help pupils to develop lively, enquiring minds and the ability to question and argue rationally. To provide a curriculum that is creative, broadly based, relevant, and meets the needs of individual children. To bring out the best in children at our school and support the development of life skills for a successful future. To ensure the development and consolidation of basic skills in Literacy and Mathematics. To allow each child the opportunity to meet their potential in happy, caring, and fun surroundings, promoting high standards for all. At Whitefield Primary School we believe that reading for pleasure is key to success. All children are encouraged to love reading a wide variety of material of books, magazines, newspapers, and to read online. A love of reading is shared by all. At Whitefield Primary School, we teach a high-quality, daily, discrete phonics session from FS1 to Year 2, and where it is needed in other year groups. Primarily, we follow the Read, Write Inc. scheme which is tailored to the needs of individuals and groups of learners. Learning is multi-sensory. The children are assessed half termly to track their progress. Appropriate interventions are implemented to accelerate progress for individual children. At Whitefield Primary School reading is taught daily. Children are taught to read in guided reading sessions. Children are taught in groups or individually and have access to a wide range of interventions, including Reading Recovery. Children are also able to apply learned skills in a variety of activities. Our book organization system is based on Book Bands and Reading Recovery levels up to Lime level. This includes a colored band & number which correspond to reading levels. Each level has carefully chosen words, phrases, phonics, and comprehension. At Key Stage 2 books are organized into year groups with an appropriate range of challenges and content. The children’s spiritual, moral, social, and cultural (SMSC) development plays a significant role in their ability to achieve and learn, as well as their ability to contribute to the local and wider community. The curriculum is planned to engage our pupils, have a positive impact on their behavior and safety, and help them to attain high in all areas of their learning. All areas of the curriculum will contribute to the child’s spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development. 12. As a parent myself, we know that choosing the right school for your child is a very important decision. So, with that in mind, we've written this website to tell you a little bit about who we are, invite you to come and have a look around our school and meet our wonderful pupils and staff. By visiting Westbridge, you will be able to observe our lovely school for yourself and see our ethos in action. At Westbridge, we are passionate about education and the power it has to improve children’s life chances. As such, we have high aspirations and ambitions for the future and a commitment to providing the opportunity for every child to fulfill his or her full potential. We have high expectations of all pupils and ensure they enjoy a stimulating and balanced curriculum to engage, enthuse and encourage a life-long love of learning. We focus on raising achievement and accelerating pupils’ progress through the provision of a high-quality teaching and learning environment. Our staff, parents and pupils form an important partnership and work together to ensure that each pupil learns in a nurturing, stimulating, and positive environment where pupils can be happy, safe, and successful. Our vision is We want to transform the lives of our pupils and their communities by helping them achieve their utmost, celebrate their talents, and become the best that they can be. We focus on developing the whole person by not only concentrating on high academic expectations but also focusing on our pupil’s key life skills and personal and social development. We aim to build a lifelong love of learning in our pupils and a set of moral values that will enable them to make a positive contribution to the community and a rapidly changing society. We're enhanced by the rich cultural heritage of our school community. With over fourteen different nationalities and eighteen different home languages, learning together and promoting community is a key element of life at Westbridge. At Westbridge, we use Letters and Sounds, as our preferred method of delivering high-quality synthetic phonics. Letters and Sounds is a phonics resource published by the Department for Education and Skills in 2007. It aims to develop pupils speaking and listening skills and to prepare pupils for learning to read by developing their phonic knowledge and skills. We take our responsibility to prepare children for life in modern Britain very seriously. We do this through our values-based approach to education, and by active and thoughtful involvement with our community. We wish to ensure that our school becomes and remains a positive force for Grace, Love, and Fellowship. Our 4P’s (positivity, perseverance, pride, and potential) help to guide us in our lives and determine our thinking and behavior. We ensure that fundamental British values are embedded in all aspects of school life. We aim to help all our children discover and aspire to be the very best they can be and to prepare them for the life of work and enable their development as good citizens. We actively promote British values through our school vision, ethos, agreed rules, curriculum, teaching, educational visits, and activities, and through the continuous professional development of our staff and governors and workshops for children and families. Staff help pupils develop an understanding of what fairness is and ensure that in addition, pupils are encouraged to respect the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. At Westbridge, these values are reinforced regularly and in the following ways. Democracy: We have a school council that meets every month to discuss issues raised in class meetings. Every child on the school council is voted in by their class. Children have an annual questionnaire and subject-specific surveys where they can put forward their views about the school. The Rule of Law: Pupils are taught about the Westbridge Golden Rules when they join our school. Pupils are taught the value and reasons behind rules and laws, the responsibilities that this involves, and the consequences when laws are broken. Regular visits from the Community Police help to reinforce this message. Individual Liberty: Pupils are actively encouraged to make choices, knowing that they are in a safe and supportive environment. As a school, we educate and provide boundaries for pupils to make informed choices in a variety of ways, e.g. through our assemblies, E-Safety, and PSHE lessons. Mutual Respect: Mutual respect is at the heart of our school ethos of Grace, Love, and Fellowship. Pupils learn that their behaviors affect their rights and those of others. We actively encourage all members of the school community to treat each other with respect. Tolerance: Westbridge is a diverse school and as such, we actively promote diversity through our celebrations of different faiths and cultures. Our school ethos, assemblies, Religious Education lessons, and PSHE lessons reinforce messages of tolerance and respect for others. Our pupils have regular opportunities to visit places of worship that are important to different faiths.
  13. West Wimbledon Primary School aims to be an e-confident school: one that is equipped to prepare children for the changing world around them by firmly embedding information and communication technologies into the curriculum and into our ways of working. Our current vision for West Wimbledon Primary School is to provide a caring, inclusive and holistic learning environment that sits at the heart of its community and provides a high level of challenge, stimulation, and support. We are committed to enabling each child to maximize her/his potential for both academic and personal successes – which we characterize in our motto: Learning and Growing. All children can start Reception in the September following their 4th birthday. Applications can be made during the period 1 September to 15 January before the child is due to start. If your child already attends a Merton School Nursery you will be provided with information by them at the correct time. If your child does not attend a Merton School Nursery, please visit the Merton Admission team’s website the September after your child’s 3rd birthday to make an online application. There are separate admissions processes for our Nursery, our Reception classes, Years 1-6 and for Treetops, our Base for children with Autism. Applications to our Base are only available through Merton’s Special Educational Needs Admissions Team. The focus of our combined efforts this year must remain the same: to secure continuous improvement, and to ensure that every child achieves the very best of which s/he is capable and to do so hopefully in an external climate not quite so fraught with the changes, uncertainty and political intervention we have seen over the last few years. We start this year, fully staffed with permanent colleagues, with a hugely supportive and skilled Governing Body and a budget that should allow us to support our drive for high-quality education. Two years ago, we did some preliminary work on revisiting the School’s vision but this was shelved, with the previous administration’s sudden “All schools to become academies” notion. Thankfully, with that now behind us, I would like us to resume that work with staff, Governors, parents, and children. With the involvement of all stakeholders – children, parents, staff, governors, and our community – we strive to be a school of which to be proud a school that nurtures valuable and responsible global citizens of the future. The School intends to revisit this vision during this academic year, to ensure that it captures the essence of the kind of School we are, and the School we intend to be. At West Wimbledon Primary School we strive to ensure that children are prepared for, and actively contribute to, life in modern Britain. This work pervades our PSHE and Citizenship curriculum, as well as all aspects of School life and we refer to these as the West Wimbledon Values. The Governors of West Wimbledon Primary School act as a ‘critical friend’ to the School. The Governing Body comprises people from all walks of life who bring a diverse range of skills, expertise, and experience which allows it to lead and support the School in making the correct choices about its development: but also holds it to account for its performance. The Governing Body is a crucial part of the school community and works closely with the Headteacher and the leadership team, particularly about setting the strategic priorities for the School. It scrutinizes the School’s financial management, the safeguarding of the children, our relationships with our neighbors, and the maintenance of our buildings and grounds, as well as overseeing what is taught, how it is taught, and, most importantly, what children achieve. It is an integral part of the School: and who we are. We recognize that safeguarding against radicalization is no different from safeguarding against any other vulnerability. At West Wimbledon Primary School all staff is expected to uphold and promote our core values, including democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect, and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. Our practice on Internet safety, another key component in our commitment to safeguarding the children in our care. As a School, West Wimbledon Primary School is committed to ensuring that children are as safe as possible when using the Internet. To that end, we have been actively involved in the Safer Internet campaigns of 2016 and 2017, running a poster competition in 2017 for the children, as well as assemblies and activities for each class. The School Council at West Wimbledon Primary School enables the children to have a say in the running of their school. This pupil voice provides the children with a greater sense of belonging, helps them to become more confident when putting forward ideas, and develops a greater understanding of the need to work cooperatively for the good of others. Our School Council comprises children from Years 1 to 6. Each member of our School Council is elected by their class. Therefore, they represent the views of their class at the meeting and feedback to their class on the discussion points that were addressed at each meeting. Once a term the School Council attends the School’s Senior Leadership Team meeting, to make suggestions and raise concerns. Years 5 and 6 representatives also attend part of the School’s Full Governing Body meetings. As is the case with most schools in Merton, West Wimbledon Primary School undertakes an annual cycle of review of performance, before developing – with Governors – its strategic plans for the future year. Last year’s (2016-17) self-evaluation document provided a detailed assessment of what the School had so far achieved, and what it might do even better and, from it, the School Development Plan for 2017-8 was drawn up. The priorities were developed following a Governors’ Strategic Planning afternoon in September, after which it was adopted by the Full Governing Body. The progress of each action is monitored closely at each Full Governing Body meeting this academic year. The School undertook a review of its existing policy to meet the new requirements for SEND in line with the new SEND Code of Practice effective from 1 September 2014. However, To provide an improved, compliant policy we are committed to reviewing and revisiting that that policy with families, children, and young people. West Wimbledon Primary School is committed to ensuring that every child makes the greatest amounts of progress and achieves everything of which s/he is capable. To that end, we focus on the needs of more able children, just as we provide additional support for those children who require that to access fully the curriculum and the level of work we demand of them.
  14. Westbrook Primary is a welcoming, inclusive academy school. We have provision for up to ten students with a visual impairment. Westbrook Primary is a welcoming, inclusive academy school. We have provision for up to ten students with a visual impairment. By providing an interesting and creative curriculum that engages our children, we aim to develop lively and enquiring minds that acquire knowledge and skills relevant to their needs, now and in the future. By promoting excellent behavior we aim to enthuse in all our children a desire to learn, as well as care and respect each other. The link between home and school is integral to a child's success and we encourage parents to take an active part in their child's learning. We see parents as partners in the education of their children, and greatly value their contribution to school life. At Westbrook Primary, to help children with learning, we use a range of tools to support and scaffold their learning. These assist children to learn to think independently. At Westbrook Primary School, children follow the International Primary Curriculum (IPC). This is an exciting, cross-curricular, skills-based curriculum with a clear process of learning, with specific learning goals. It ensures that learning is enjoyable, active, and meaningful for the children. Many of our families come from around the world with very diverse backgrounds and the IPC is a fantastic way for all our children to understand our 'Global' community. There are purposeful links and connections throughout the learning and each IPC project links a range of subjects including Science, History, Geography, ICT, Art, DT, Music, and PE. It also provides many opportunities for links to English and Maths. We aim to develop reading at Westbrook to provide our pupils with life skills whilst also promoting reading for pleasure and enjoyment. We strongly believe that reading opens many doors for our children. It helps to improve their language and vocabulary, stimulates their imagination, and allows them to gain new experiences. Therefore, we aim to create confident, independent readers who develop good learning skills and a range of interests. Reading for pleasure contributes to educational success and we focus on equipping our children with the necessary skills, as well as developing a lifelong love of reading.
  15. Westbourne Primary School is An Outstanding Academy School: a friendly, caring, family community striving for excellence - committed to the achievement and sharing in the success of each individual. All children at the school follow the National Curriculum, which means that they spend a good deal of time on the Core Subjects: English, Mathematics, and Science, with a daily Literacy and Numeracy lesson. There is still plenty of time for the other Foundation Subjects History, Geography, Computing, Music, Art, Design & Technology, Physical Education, Modern Foreign Languages, R.E., and P.S.H.C.E. As part of their learning program, children follow a variety of creative, cross-curricular topics and themes over the school year. The topics are diverse and are drawn from the appropriate programs of study and level descriptors of the National Curriculum. A variety of teaching approaches are used by teachers throughout the year, selected to be the most appropriate to the task at hand. This means that children are sometimes taught as a class, sometimes as a group, or sometimes on an individual basis. This sensible approach ensures that every child will receive a broad and balanced education based on his or her needs. Westbourne recognizes that the best place for learning may not always be in a conventional classroom environment. The outdoors is seen as another, much larger classroom, with an abundance of natural resources and many opportunities for hands-on, 'real-life learning. We always consider how and where learning would best take place, and plan for frequent, continuous progressive outdoor learning experiences. A definite strength of the school is a large number of free extra-curricular clubs and activities run at lunchtime and after school. Throughout the year children are taken on visits that support their learning in school. Children in Year 4 have the opportunity to go on a 3-day visit to Sayers Croft children in Year 5 can go on a weekend visit to Kingswood, and children in Year 6 can go on a week-long residential visit to the Isle of Wight. These visits play a vital part in developing children's learning and no child is ever excluded from a school visit on the grounds of cost. Every class has the opportunity to experience a day out in London, in addition to at least another school outing during the year. Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning and provide an environment that prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens. The school aims to help children develop lively, enquiring minds and a love of learning, together with a sense of self-respect and respect for others.

  24. Welcome to West Green Primary School. Our friendly school is based in South Tottenham, Inner London. We are a happy and welcoming school where our children’s entitlement to succeed is at the heart of all that we do. Our children bring with them a wide range of personal experiences and many are new learners of English. Their hunger for learning is evident in all that they do they are bright, engaging, and fun children who are developing a true sense of their selves and are beginning to take responsibility for their futures. We know that to secure a bright future, our children must have excellent literacy and numeracy skills as well as being confident and considerate members of our community. We believe that all of our children should learn to read fluently and avidly, write confidently and effectively and work with numbers accurately and efficiently. Our children have daily lessons in Maths, English, and Reading, and other subjects are taught through topics where possible, for example, History, Geography, Science and Art. Other subjects such as ICT and RE and PE are taught discretely. We use the Read Write Inc Programme to develop our children’s phonic knowledge and to teach them how to decode, blend and segment. Children begin this program in Nursery and receive daily lessons in both the Early Years and Key Stage 1. Children are grouped according to reading ability and are assessed on a half-termly basis. Once our children have completed the phonics program they begin the Language and Literacy program which teaches all elements of the English Curriculum, including Spelling Punctuation, and Grammar. All children receive a daily hour-long lesson on this subject. An additional skills session takes place daily to provide our children with a further opportunity to develop their reading and writing skills. The needs of our various cohorts are taken into account when planning these sessions. Our children also take home appropriate reading books daily and we encourage parents and siblings to read together as often as possible. For children who are struggling to learn to read fluently, we offer a range of proven interventions. These interventions are monitored closely and progress is carefully tracked. We follow the new National Curriculum across Key Stages 1 and 2. This year we have introduced the Maths Mastery Programme in Reception and Year 1 and plan to roll this program into Year 2 as of September 2015. Maths Mastery aims to develop children’s deep understanding of mathematics. They explore mathematical concepts in depth using objects, conversation, and problem-solving to build confidence in their understanding of Maths. The 3 key elements of Maths Mastery sessions are objects and pictures, language development, and problem-solving. From Years 2 to 6, the teaching of mathematics includes using and applying mathematics, counting and understanding numbers, knowing and understanding number facts, calculating, understanding shape, measuring, and handling data. It is hoped that through practical experience and discussion each child will gain confidence and develop mathematical awareness at his or her level of understanding. At West Green Primary School we promote the British values of: Democracy Rule of Law Individual Liberty Respect and Tolerance
  25. West Didsbury CE Primary School is a new primary school for Didsbury, which opened in September 2015. Running alongside Didsbury CE Primary, we are currently providing 180 much-needed places for the community for children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, having opened in a fully refurbished and purpose-built facility on the site of the old Ewing School on Central Road. The school will add a further two reception classes each academic year, until we become a thriving 420-pupil primary school running from Reception to Year Six in September 2022. West Didsbury CE Primary School will build on the outstanding education provided to the children of Didsbury by its sister school Didsbury CE Primary for over 400 years. Many Didsbury parents have spoken in the past of their frustration at not being able to access the excellent education and Christian ethos at Didsbury CE Primary, which this year received 205 preference applications for just 30 places. So West Didsbury CE Primary will be able to offer that same academic, creative and spiritual development to a further 60 children each year. The school will focus on an exciting core curriculum where children are nurtured to reach high standards in literacy, numeracy, and personal and social skills. Taught by fully qualified, enthusiastic, and caring staff, child-focused learning will encourage pupils to develop to their full potential. At the same time, just like Didsbury CE Primary, this will be a loving, caring school with a warm, family feel. Our ethos is Belonging, Believing, Becoming where children feel a sense of belonging to the school and community of Didsbury, Believe in their ability and potential, and Become well-rounded and self-aware young people who can be a force for good in society. Ever since we got the go-ahead to spread the outstanding education we provide at Didsbury CE Primary to a new school in West Didsbury, we’ve been incredibly excited by the opportunity to offer more children the chance to experience our high-quality teaching by caring staff in a warm, family environment. It has been a source of great pleasure to watch this young community grow since we opened in September 2015. Opening in a brand-new building on Central Road also offered us the chance to work with architects to plan exactly the right building to provide the stimulating curriculum we want to teach, develop a new creative design studio, and promote outdoor learning. When people come to West Didsbury CE Primary they now tell us not only that it's a fabulous building, but that it feels like a very caring school, with staff who will do everything to support children. By both cherishing and challenging your child, this is a school that children, parents, and teachers have quickly come to love. And with each passing year seeing two new Reception classes until we are a thriving 420-pupil primary school by September 2022, it's a wonderful opportunity for everyone to be part of something very special - a brand new school with a firm faith foundation that's building on a 400-year tradition of excellence at Didsbury CE Primary. So, you’ve been excited by the news that West Didsbury has a new primary school, and delighted that it will build on 400 years of outstanding education at Didsbury CE Primary. The next step is applying to get your children into the school. This is how admissions will work: West Didsbury CE Primary School is a two-form entry primary school for children aged 4-11 years. In September 2015 we opened for 60 Reception age pupils, adding two new Reception forms every year until we become a thriving 420-pupil primary school by September 2022. As a Church of England Free School, we will admit up to 50 percent of pupils to Reception based on faith, and at least 50 percent to community applicants without reference to faith. What does this mean? 30 places will go to “faith applicants” - children of the Christian faith who regularly attend a Christian Church which is part of ‘Churches Together in England.’ Priority will be given to children who worship at St James and Emmanuel, Didsbury Christchurch, West Didsbury St Christopher’s, Withington or St Nicholas’, Burnage. This will be established by a church leader’s reference: please visit our website and download the form if you think your child qualifies. Thirty places will also go to children who live in the community, and their admission will be based on geographical criteria. In both criteria, children with a statement of special educational needs naming West Didsbury CE Primary School, or looked after children, will be admitted first. Starting school is an exciting time: a time of new experiences, new friends, and new places. And in West Didsbury CE Primary’s case, brand new place, too! Our school days provide a secure and anxiety-free environment where your child can play, explore, experiment, investigate and learn. We also encourage the children to acquire skills and knowledge through first-hand experience, gaining a sound understanding of the world around them. The curriculum for our Reception classes will be developed from many years of outstanding teaching at Didsbury CE Primary. Don’t just take our word for it: the last Ofsted report at Didsbury CE Primary noted that “children make outstanding progress… curricular planning in. Reception classes are of excellent quality and ensure that children have the opportunity to engage fully in a wide range of fun activities across all areas of learning. From starting points mostly typical for their age, by the end [of Reception] many exceed the early learning goals.
